The shit wizard even sounds weak. Katsuki can't help but scoff. How many times is this idiot gonna insist on leaving when he looks like even the wind would blow him away.
"Well good luck with that. The old man and old hag aren't just gonna send ya out when your weak as all hell."
More whispering from downstairs is heard as they are silent again. The boy looks up from the ground, looking out the window covered by the curtains.
He mutters out a single sentence.
"Are your parents... Nice people?"
Katsuki is slightly confused by the question. He glances at the floor, glad no one else is in the room to hear him say what he's about to say.
He grumbles out an answer, though it's not as loud as his other responses.
"Yeah."
The boy looks even more tired when he answers, which is beyond Katsuki. He watches him closely.
"...Then I'm sorry if something happens."
Katsuki doesn't know what to say, though even if he was going to say something, the boys ring starts to glow a soft orange hue.
For some reason, it takes Katsuki's attention yet again. He doesn't know why but the feeling of seeing it glow feels oddly familiar, like he's seen it a thousand times before.
Katsuki's eyes go back to the boy, broken out of the trance as the ring softly stops glowing. The boy's eyes are still focused on it though.
"Has anyone ever told you how much of a fucking kill joy you are?"
The boy is silent before he slowly looks at Katsuki, a confused and surprised expression on his face.
The boy lets out a quiet laugh, his eyes brightening up slightly as he does. Katsuki stares at his face for a moment. He looks away, the boy's soft laughter trailing off.
He feels slightly less annoyed for some reason.
They don't have any more time to stew in silence again because the sound of Mitsuki and Masaru coming up the stairs takes their attention.
Mitsuki is the first out of the two adults to enter the room, standing at the doorway. Masaru looks at the two of them from behind her, his built frame almost three times bigger than his wife's.
Katsuki looks at her and she looks back. Her perfect features are put into a grim expression, his mouth twisting slightly.
But it changes as she looks at the boy who is sitting on the bed. She has a soft look on her face as she smiles at him.
Even her voice is soft and gentle as she talks to the boy. Katsuki has to resist glowering at her.
"We're gonna get you cleaned up. I'll be here to help you out."
She walks toward the boy, who has been watching her closely ever since she opened the room door.
Mitsuki glances back at Katsuki, her warm smile turning into a stern look.
