Firekit
Firekit lay in the middle of her nest, nestled in Sandheart's belly when Shadowkit entered the den.
"Shadowkit? What are you doing?"
Shadowkit jumped, as if she was doing something that wasn't supposed to be known. Firekit narrowed her eyes. "I'm doing nothing, just stalking the shadows for being an apprentice, okay?"
Almost as if Shadowkit talking about being an apprentice made her do it, Firekit could hear Squirrelstar yowling, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Highledge!"
Firekit filed out with Shadowkit's pelt pressing against hers, and Sandheart licking her head vigorously.
"Firekit, come forward," Squirrelstar meowed, her gaze revealing nothing.
Firekit padded forwards, aware of the stares.
"Firekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you earn your warrior name, you shall now be known as Firepaw. Your mentor will be Heavystep. I hope Heavystep will pass down all he knows on to you. Heavystep, pad forwards."
Heavystep padded forward, his orange eyes glinting in the sunlight.
"Heavystep, you are ready to have an apprentice, and you have received excellent training from Leafheart. You have shown yourself to be courageous and responsible. You will be the mentor of Firepaw, and I expect you to pass down all you know to Firepaw. Shadowkit, come forward."
Shadowkit padded forwards, and Firepaw thought she saw a bit of excitement in her nervous gaze.
That's my sister.
"Shadowkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you have earned your warrior name, you shall be known as Shadowpaw. Your mentor will be Nightsong. I hope Nightsong passes on all he knows onto you. Nightsong, pad forwards."
Firepaw fixed her gaze on Shadowpaw, feeling her mentor's heartbeat.
"Nightsong, you are ready to take on an apprentice, and you have received excellent training from Firecloud. You have shown yourself to be resilient and persuasive. I expect you to pass down all you know to Shadowpaw."
Firepaw padded over to Shadowpaw.
"We're finally apprentices!"
