Through Canada's Eyes

I look around the crowded ballroom. When Reich got back, he sorted us around. The most important people and his greatest enemies were locked in UN's private conference room; Reich had turned that room into his own mock throne room. My mother was kept in his study, where she will be kept until she agrees to take Reich's hand in marriage. Reich had been trying for ages to coerce my mother into marrying him. It makes me sick to even imagine a world in which he is my step father.

The rest of us are trapped in the ballroom. We were being watched over by Soviet. If Soviet needed any more motivation to work for Reich, it would be his son and his daughter that were chained up in front of him. If he dared to disobey Reich, I could only imagine the horrible things he would do to Ukraine and Russia.

I want to help my family.... My brothers who are out who knows where, Australia who looks as if he's trapped in a nightmare, my father who is locked in Reich's 'throne room', My mother who is locked up in his study. The most I can do is hold tightly onto my brothers hand and exchange a small comforting nod to those I make eye contact with. I do not want to make those monsters any stronger by giving them a reason to take my powers. However, I wonder how long until they decide to take everything from everyone. What could they be planning?

Suddenly, Imperial Japan burst into the room. He had burns all over his body and an open wound on his waist, but his fury seemed to outweigh his pain. He scanned the room. His eyes fall in my direction. I feel Australia's grip on my hand tightening, and I pull him in a hug.

"You...," Imperial sneered, storming in our direction. Suddenly, I feel the chains connecting me and Australia's restraints fade away. Australia was now completely unchained, while I was still chained up to the person on my left. Imperial grabbed Australia away from my grasp and lifted him up by the throat.

"You thought I wouldn't realize? You thought I wouldn't figure out your little animal stunt?" Imperial exclaimed.

"I-I...," Australia stuttered.

"Don't even try to play dumb. You're still the same stupid little child you were when you sent your animals after me the first time...." Imperial shattered the ballroom window using a ray of energy he stole from Japan. "I should have gotten rid of you when I had the chance."

"No!" I scream, struggling to lift myself from the chains keeping me down. I feel my eyes begin to glow. I know I can't use my power... but Australia could very well be the only family I have left. Vines shoot out from the ground and wrap around Imperials arms and legs. Imperial turned back to Soviet.

"WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" Imperial called. Soviet held his breath and pointed the scepter he held towards me. As a ray of light circles me, I feel like my soul is being ripped in half. Pain surges throughout my body. Once it's done, I hit the ground, trying my best to hold myself up with my weakened arms. The vines I had summoned wilted away.

"Please... he's just a child...," I struggle to cry out. Imperial looked down at me with a sinister smile.

"There is only one way to get rid of his little 'Connection to animals'." Imperial Japan shoved through the crowd. He faced the open window and held Australia over the ground below.

"I-Imperial... isn't this a bit much? Can't you just take away his power?" Soviet stuttered.

"He's spiritually connected to all of those pests.... it's different from the spirit guardian... its as if they are linked telepathically," Imperial Japan said through his teeth, no doubt jealous of Australia's unique ability. Imperial dropped Australia out of the window.

"NO!" I scream.

"There. What are those creatures going to do now without their master?" Imperial Japan said, a twisted satisfaction in his voice. He turns to me.

"Soviet, take him to the dungeon with the other two. His whining gets on my nerves," Imperial demanded. Soviet obliged. The chains connecting me to the person next to me disappeared. Soviet grabbed my arm and led me away from the ballroom.

Both of us remained silent as we walked through the long corridors. After a while, Soviet clears his throat.

"I'm sorry about your brother," Soviet said. His apology gives me no comfort. He took my powers, preventing me from possibly saving Australia. Am I supposed to pity him because he was forced into this job? I can't figure out how to feel. I always thought that you should give everyone a second chance... but how am I supposed to pity him after everything that has happened?

"I'm sorry you feel guilty," Is all I can force out. We remain silent until we get to the dungeon. Soviet opens a cell door and gently ushers me in. At this point I don't see why I should even try to fight back. I just want this to be over. I sit down on the cold cobblestone floor and hug my knees to my chest, not hesitating to let the tears fall from my eyes.

"Canada? Is that you?" I hear Japans voice from the cell next to me.

"J-Japan... are you ok?" I ask.

"I.... I'm alive. We both are. So I guess that's one good thing," Japan said. I sigh.

"What are we going to do," I cry. The two of us remain silent.

Suddenly, I hear a small purr.

"Nekomi!" I hear Japan exclaim.

"Nekomi? What is she doing here?" I exclaim.

"She says America sent her... he's with Mexico, Poland, and Germany... Belarus... New Zealand-,"

"He's ok?!" I exclaim excitedly.

"They're ok.... I can't believe it... but, how are they planning to take down Reich by themselves?" Japan asked.

"Good question...," I say.

"Nekomi is telling me that they are trying to form a plan.... well, I guess something is better than nothing," Japan said. I sigh.

"I guess so...,"
