Amelia Ledger's POV:

I was sitting on the edge of the wooden railing, on the front porch, with Maggie. We were just enjoying each other's company in silence, and we were appreciating the silence, especially me. because I had a very bad headache ever since I woke up today.

Hershel had told me to stop taking my anxiety pills a long time ago, But of course, I didn't listen—which I wish I did every single day.

The pharmacy in the town was out of the pills that I was taking, It made me stop taking them by sudden and force. So it had caused me awful headaches—thank god it didn't cause anything more than headaches, well other than confusion, sleep disturbance, and anxiety.

I was staring at the ring dagger in my hand—which Joseph had given me on my birthday, right after he and my father got back—a slight smile formed on my lips when I laid eyes on the very small carving on its handle.

It was a small J+A and since it was a lot harder than he expected—but yet, he wanted to do all the work all by himself and wanted it to be unique—it looked like a 6-year-old handwriting, well it was unique and adorable, though. Plus it is the last thing I have left from him—ever since he ended it all.

Maggie's soft-sweet voice pulled me out of my sweet-old-sad thoughts and brought me back to reality, "who's that?"

I raised my head with creased eyebrows. my best friend nodded at the person, who was running towards our farm. I turned my head to my right, narrowing my eyes to try to see the person better, but he was too far so it was no use. My best friend grabbed some binoculars before me, so I only knew that a person was running towards us.

My best friend lowered the binoculars and quickly turned around, yelling. "Dad!"

I flinched a little from her shout—since she was standing right next to me—then, I snatched the binoculars from my best friend's hand who ran inside to get her father.

I wanted to use the binoculars, but the person was now close enough for me to be able to see him. so I placed it back down on the porch.

I quickly jumped off the railing on my feet. My eyes widened when I saw a deputy with a boy in his arms, the boy seemed to be little—maybe 10 or 11—so I was now so concerned about him when I figured that he was hurt, pretty bad, I suppose.

The door swung open, my attention snapped at the Greene family coming out. Then, I shifted my gaze back to the former deputy.

When the man was now closer, I heard Hershel's voice, "Was he bit?"
