A/N:

- This is the longest chapter I've written yet. I'll admit some scenes could have been the perfect spot for the chapter to end, but I didn't feel like it yet.<br />
- It's a bit of a roller coaster, but nothing too extreme. Enjoy :)

Chapter 19: Aluna

It was early dawn, the sky a muted grey gradient, where from the centre leaked the faint makings of daylight.

For now the heavens were subdued, mortal passions, hopes, mistakes and fears inconsequential in the wide expanse of neutral grey—whatever misgivings the previous day carried, a new day was about to start, and the sky reflected that clean slate.

The perfect clean slate for a camping trip.

In his villa, an increasingly familiar dwelling as time went on, Luffy worked on the final section of his script.

He last edited it when on the bus with Torao, and writing under duress, or even as a means to calm his nerves, did not give fruit to very coherent storylines. He couldn't understand half of what he was reading, and he felt a little annoyed at himself because it gave him more work to crunch out at the present.

The project for his final film was about Shanks.

Not much was there to tell, besides the fact that not only was his mentor no longer with him, but his brother too. Luffy tried not to think about the aching in his heart, not only due to the pain of his brother's death, but for a separate reason entirely, and instead focused on the things that currently made him happy.

Today, he was going to take Torao with him down to Aluna, where his good friend lived. Granted he was supposed to have visited him the minute he landed, but who would've thought he'd meet someone as funny as Torao on the plane?

Luffy shook his head and glanced back at his computer. Usopp would be really mad if he didn't finish this script. One thing at a time.

By the time Luffy managed to finish and send it off, he heard the melodic chirp of a songbird, followed by the creeping sunlight spilling through the floor to ceiling windows of his bedroom. The dawn sky was blue and orange, the grey pushed to the edges of the shining brilliance, as if its presence was no longer welcomed—but Luffy didn't have to worry too much.

When he got downstairs, he saw that familiar grey in Torao's eyes.

His cheeks bunched and he smiled widely. Torao had known he would come, and had opened the door the minute he knocked. Even though it was only half past 7, the older man's eyes twinkled like a somber night sky, apprehensive, yet still dark and enchanting all the same.

"Luffy—"

Before he could get a full sentence out, Luffy's arms shot out like a python, snaking them around Law's slim waist. "Morning, Torao!"

He squeezed tighter, half expecting the man to push him away in protest. To his surprise, Luffy was pleasantly pleased when a hand gingerly tapped his shoulder—a tentative, but forthright reciprocation.

Luffy made a mental note of all the things he'd tell Sabo when he got back home. All the things he might tell Ace, if he were there too.

I started dating this funny guy named Torao, he'd start with his eyes dancing like summer rain. I sent you a picture of him, see! He's a doctor and he's really smart, and he's got pretty eyes. He seems really lonely, and also like a friend! On the first day of dating, we went rafting and he kissed my cheek in this cool, blue cave. On the second day, I hugged him good morning, and guess what!
