Charlie's niece

Chapter 03

3rd POV
There, seated next and on top of Melanie's desk was Jasper Hale and Alice Cullen.

They, along with their family moved here from Alaska two years ago. Her mom had started a frenemy/work rival relationship with their adoptive father Carlisle who was a renowned surgeon and their mother Esme was a homemaker/home designer consultant which her grandmother Helen took advantage of after rewriting the will for Melanie.

Helen planned to redecorate and upgrade all the home estates to suit Melanie's taste better and this included Charlie's home as he didn't pay bills just lived there. Which is what had been discussed the previous night and caused Charlie to become upset that he might be asked to leave his home.

He didn't save any of his money (instead he gave it all to Renee and Bella) and therefore couldn't afford to lose the house because he'd become homeless.

He wasn't trying to be mean to Melanie because he knew that it wasn't her fault or her idea, but he was put in a bad situation and he didn't know what to do. But he was, and he hurt Melanie and angered his parents further at him.

Anyway back to our trio.

Alice and Jasper knew that Melanie would be working alone and jumped at the chance to spend time with their second mate. When they moved here two years ago, they weren't expecting to meet their mate.

Nor were they anticipating her to be the most beautiful and innocent person in the world! The poor girl had a bi panic attack every time they tried to talk to her or got close! She was an anxious little thing that only seemed comfortable around her family.

It was difficult, especially with Jasper's shyness and fear of hurting her and Alice's overly bubbly and energetic personality causing them to struggle approaching her as well.

But that was about to change because with this project you needed a partner and with the uneven amount of students in the classroom that would mean that their shy mate would be alone.

It was perfect!

Jasper sat next to her desk while Alice had placed herself on top of it and childishly swung her crossed legs as they awaited their mate's arrival patiently.

When she did arrive their faces lit up and they greeted her with warm loving smiles "Hi Mellie!" Alice chirped while Jasper said "Hello, little darlin'."

Melanie froze and her face erupted into a vibrant shade of vermilion. An almost inaudible squeak escaped her as her heartbeat sped up. Her floral scent of jasmine and lilac suddenly sweetened as she became happy at her crushes appearance.

Alice and Jasper's reaction to her scent and accelerated heart beat contrasted Edward's reaction to Bella's strawberry and vanilla cream scent (which caused him to firmly believe that she was his mate) and nearly attempting to kill her and drain her twice before even actually meeting her in biology class.

Instead of feeling the urge to drain her dry, Jasper and Alice's breathe simultaneously hitched and they felt aroused by her subconscious response to their presence.

Jasper mentally thanked Alice for remind him to wear skinny jeans to better hide his growing boner.

Alice's legs tightened and her thighs subtly rubbed together as she attempted to slightly relieve herself and calm down.

Thankfully, Melanie chose to speak up and shakily ask  "He-hello-o! What are you doing here, e-exactly?" Which snapped both vampires out of their less than decent thoughts about their lamb like mate. They silently cursed themselves before Alice answered in a strained version of her chipper self "We came to partner up with you silly! We thought that you'd rather work in a group than by yourself."

Melanie's face flushed more "O-oh! Um, that's very thoughtful of you, but-" she's cut off when Mr. Jefferson comes up and places a hand on her shoulder and pulls her closer to his form "Ah! Melanie! So good to see you today! Are you planning on working with Mr. Hale and Ms. Cullen? Or are you going solo again?"

Melanie stiffened at his touch and tried to stammer a response as she grew increasingly uncomfortable with his fingers that was tracing circles along her upper arm.

Both Alice and Jasper's eyes zeroed in on his hand and their once warm and loving golden eyes turned a cold and hateful black.

Mr. Jefferson laughed nervously at their stare and dropped his hand from Melanie's shoulder to her waist and pulled her further away from the vampire duo who were looking at him with murderous intent.

Forks was a small town and everyone talked especially about the mysterious newcomers.

And no we aren't talking about the Cullens. We're stalking about the Newtons, Jack Clapp (The new high school gym teacher), and of course Aaron Jefferson (the history teacher).

The story behind Mr. Jefferson was that he had a thing for anyone young and blonde and even offered private tutoring sessions after school for these 'bright and intelligent young minds' these were the students that normally got straight A's in his class, but failed the others.

He set his sights on Melanie as soon as he moved here three months ago and has been overly friendly to the point of discomfort to even enter the classroom.

Melanie's once shy and innocent flustered expression had turned pale and sickly with discomfort at the 30 year old man's hand on her.

This only added fuel to their fire.

"Yes, actually, Melanie is working with us. So if you don't mind...." Alice started, as she hopped off the desk and promptly yanked Melanie out of his grip like she was taking back her favorite teddy bear from a bully, and Jasper stood up to finish her sentence "....kindly fuck off as were busy right now" Jasper's 5'10 ft height seemingly towered over Mr. Jefferson's 5'6 ft and caused the teacher to nod and awkwardly excuse himself.

Alice held Melanie close to her form and asked in a hushed tone "Are you alright?" Melanie latched onto Alice like a scared little kid to their mother after a nightmare and said "I- yeah, I just....he makes me really uncomfortable and I panicked" Jasper came over looking just as concerned causing her to reach her hand out and grasp his to reassure him that she was unharmed.

Realizing what she was doing she quickly pulled away from both of them and said "Let's just get started on the project" the duo frowned but obeyed her request. They weren't sure how to approach the situation with her seeing as her anxiety made it difficult to understand her emotions and the last thing they wanted was to scare her off.

Maybe after they gain her trust they can talk to her about it again, but for now.... They will wait.
