Mellie's POV
I sat in my room on Saturday with Alice and Jasper as we worked on the project.We were asked to make a board about our partners favorite historical figure. I had Alice's and hers was Marie Antoinette, Alice had Jasper's was a man named Pat Garrett, and Jasper's had mine.....Anne of Cleaves.
We chatted as we worked and think we were all just enjoying the normalcy of each other's company. After Monday, Edward had disappeared from school and hadn't returned, much to Bella's frustration.
Bella began hounding the Cullens demanding to know where he is, only to be blown off by them. When she found out that I was working on a project with Jasper and Alice she started demanding and I quote;
"Because I'll be head of household someday as the oldest grandchild, you have to do what I say! So help me talk to the Cullens! Set up a meeting! Speak to them on my behalf!"
I laughed in her face and said that she was only working herself up for disappointment. It was a hint of her future, but I didn't tell her anything outright.
I wasn't in the mood for another one her tantrums.
She doesn't know that I'm being trained as head of the household and I'm doing so has led my grandparents revealing the secrets of Forks. I know about the wolf pack and the Cullens, but only the wolf pack knows that I know. I'm working up the courage to tell Alice and Jasper that I know.
I leaned back with a sigh as I scan my poster board. I had pictures of Marie and her fashion sense (paying special attention to her hair and dresses) along with lots of cake.
I tilted my head back and sighed as I inhaled the mixed scents of leather and sandalwood with citrus and some type of sweet pastry like a cream cake. Scents that I was starting to associate with my unrequited crushes. They both contrasted against my subtle, but sweetly floral scent. Both were so different, but they both gave me the same comfort.
A wave of drowsiness filled me and before I could stop myself, my head rolled and accidentally bumped onto the shoulder of poor Jasper whose breath hitched and he stiffened up upon contact. I jolted myself awake and quickly apologized "I'm sorry, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night."
Not with my grandparents brutal training.....why would I ever need to subdue a shapeshifter? Or kill a vampire?
"It's fine, flower, here....take a nap on my lap and we'll wake you up in a little bit" Alice said, I went to protest only for Jasper to shush me and say "Rest, lil darlin, we'll be here when you wake up" all fight left me at that and I konked out.
3rd POV
As Melanie passed out on Alice's lap, the vampire duo's swear that they could feel their hearts warm and start beating again.The amount of trust and security that she had to have felt to allow herself to be so vulnerable around them was staggering.
Melanie didn't say how she felt, nor did she often show it, so this was a big step in their future relationship with her. Whatever they were doing, or whatever they did to earn this privilege they would happily continue doing.....
All for her.
