“–and since you now know of our existence, I fear that – as of last night – the Decepticons know of yours,” Optimus, the largest Cybertronian, continued to explain.
Nightshadow leaned against the wall of her containment cell. Using her long, clawed digits, she picked moths and other bugs out of her grill, tossing them aside absent-mindedly. She huffed a small smirk, side-eyeing them.
“You don’t say,” she remarked slowly.
“Got it. If we spot any strange vehicles, call 9-1-1,” Jack confirmed.
Nightshadow scoffed.
“Your human law enforcements ain’t goin’ to be very helpful against a highly advanced species that are at least six times their size. That’s just illogical.”
Ratchet, the white and orange mech, quickly looked over at her.
“What did you–”
“I mean, she’s got a point,” Rush agreed, putting a servo on her hip-plate, “What do expect the police or fire brigade to do against one of us? Hose us to death. I mean, seriously,” she gestured at herself and the others before holding up her other servo, “No offence.”
“None taken,” Raf smiled.
“Can we… go now,” Jack asked, a little uncomfortable with it all.
“Are you insane,” Miko began, “I’m living a dream, here, in Botswana and I will not allow you or anyone else to shatter it.”
“It is best that you three remain under our watch,” Optimus stated, “At least until we can determine our enemy’s intentions.”
Nightshadow growled quietly, slightly clenching her jaw as her tail twitched in annoyance.
Ratchet turned to his leader.
“Optimus, with all due respect, the human children are in as much danger here as anywhere.”
Jack’s nose crinkled, “Children?”
“They have not protective shell,” he added, “If they get underfoot, they will go… squiiiish.”
The medic gently slammed his ped on the ground to make his point.
“Then, for the time being, Ratchet, we must watch where we step,” Optimus said.
Nightshadow nodded, picking out the last bug from her grill.
“Exactly. You were given optics for a reason. Now’s the best time to use ‘em, yeah? See how good ya sight is.”
Arcee – the blue and pink femme – was about to snap something, when suddenly, green lights flashed throughout the Autobot Base. Nightshadow’s audio receptors perked in both alarm and interest. She turned her optics to the ceiling.
“What’s that,” Jack asked.
Bumblebee – the little, yellow and black mech – whirred an answer. Jack and Miko looked at each other in confusion.
“Proximity sensor,” Raf translated easily, “Someone’s up top.”
Ratchet went over to one of the oversized computers, bringing up a live security feed of the Base’s roof. An army helicopter had landed on the heli-pad, the rotors slowing down. A dark-skinned male in a grey suit power walked towards the lift.
Rush rolled her optics as she crossed her arms.
“Ugh. This guy again?”
“It’s Agent Fowler,” Ratchet reported, not sounding over-joyed.
