It was an late bright sunny morning and Kiri, Lo'ak, Spider, Tuktirey, Tsireya, Aonung and Rotxo were still surfing on the waves but they weren't the only ones who were vibing with the new island behind the Seaways Jake Sully was walking along the beach with his wife Neytiri hand in hand taking in the atmosphere scenery and trying to not be obviously emotionally awkward as they walk past the mermaids that were just going on with their day.
Jake and Neytiri (🙂-😐): *Talking and laughing* *Stops to let a mermaid pass who was holding a still alive fish bigger than her with one hand*
After seeing that the couple continue on their walk only to stop again to see that the rest of their chosen path is quite crowded by both na'vi and merpeople were in the middle of decorating what looked like ceremonial celebratory grounds. What they didn't notice in the crowd towards the end was the Metkayina clan leader Tonowari hanging a string of crystals while conversing with a young na'vi girl who was crouched down with her back facing them.
Tonowari and girl (🤭+😐-😀): *Laughing at what the girl had just said* *Looks over in Jake and Neytiri's direction* Ah! Just the two I wanted to see!
Jake and Neytiri (😐): *Scanning crowd*
Tonowari (😀): *Hollers off screen* Sully! *Referring to both Jake and Neytiri* Sully! Over this way! Jake (😐-🙂): *Spots Tonowari*
Jake and Neytiri swiftly try to squeeze and slide through the crowd without disturbing as many people in the way as possible after a few seconds of saying "excuse me" and "sorry" multiple times when they got to their destination they were greeted with Tonowari who turned to face them.
Tonowari (🙂): Ah ha! *Steps down from small ledge he was standing on*
Tonowari, Jake and Neytiri (🙂): *Greets each other by grabbing each other by the forearm* *Starts incoherent small talk*
Switch Jake's POV (Narrative):
According to Tonowari the Metkayina have been aware of the mermaids' existence since the first tide cycles. No other clans know they're here or believe them to be more than just stories of one of the many ancient spirits who served Eywa and would be her senders of help when all life was in need. But were also very unpredictable and easily irritated at the slightest thing that they see as out of right. The Metkayina have also heard of these tales but they know which of them are true one of them being that if the discovery of the slightest potential location of where you can find these "spirits'' it is strictly forbidden to set foot there again in fear of putting the entire village into suffering from Pongu ta txampay wrath.
Female Na'vi (😐): *Interrupts asks Tonowari about basket of flowers she's holding* Tonowari (🙂+😐): *Says something incoherent back*
But around twenty years ago the Metkayina found some loopholes through this tale, one of them being...
Tonowari (🙂): *Faces to girl he was talking to* Marina? Za'u fìtsenge rutxe? (Marina? Come here please?)
(Scene changes to close up on the girls back from the waist up) (Slow mo activates)
Her. Girl (😐+🙂): *Turns around and smiles*
