Taehyung patiently rubbed Jeongguk's back, whispering comforting words into his hear.

Jeongguk stayed in his arms, slowly calming down.

"I know we've talked about this before." Jeongguk started.

"But....it keeps bothering me." Taehyung kept silent, closely listening to the younger.

"I just...." Jeongguk bit his lip to hold back another cry.

"I just can't accept the fact that we won't be together as much in the future. And....I didn't think it would be this soon." Jeongguk's voice came out weak. He felt his throat clenching in pain.

Taehyung frowned. He grabbed Jeongguk's chin and admired his face, pained but still pretty.

"Jeongguk, let me tell you that whatever comes in the future, it won't separate us. We will still be friends, we will still hang out, we-"

"No hyung, you don't understand. We won't always get to stay together. We won't notice it but we will distance ourselves overtime. You'll have your own life and we...we just won't be as close anymore." Jeongguk's voice cracked in the end.

Taehyung stayed silent. He knew this conversation will rise again. He kept avoiding it. Truly so, he didn't want to accept this idea.

Taehyung sighed. He took Jeongguk's hands and rubbed them out of habit.

"I...I know what you're trying to say Jeongguk. But remember this. No matter how far we go in life, we won't ever distance. I personally can't imagine how boring my life would be if you weren't in it."

Taehyung smiled and gently wiped Jeongguk's tears.

"And I need you to keep this in mind. I promise we will stay in each other's lives. Always."

The younger softly smiled and shew his pinkie.

"Promise?"

Taehyung chuckled and connected their fingers.

"Promise."

There was a comfortable silence as they stared at the sea, slowly calming down.

"Actually, you know what." Taehyung got up and searched the ground.

Jeongguk looked at him in confusion.

"Aha, there we go." Taehyung picked a little stick with a very sharp end and went back to his seat.

He eyed the space between his and Jeongguk's thighs and used the stick to engrave something onto the wooden bench.

Jeongguk watched in curiosity as he waited for the older to finish. Once Taehyung was done, he threw away the stick.

"Look." Jeongguk looked at it and almost started crying again.

On the wooden seat were engraved letters: T + J = forever

"Hyung!" Jeongguk gently laughed, Taehyung smiled in return.

They sat on that bench till sunset, chatting away and making jokes. Right at that moment, everything felt light, as if time was stopped. It was only them, the sea, and beautiful rays of purle across the sky.
