Chained Soldier and Still Waters

Chapter 4

"Dead Calm, out of all the forms of Water Breathing I use, this form along with a few others, are forms that i'm trying to take to the next level. By ceasing all body movements and entering a state of complete tranquility, I can deflect, block and cut any incoming attacks with imperceptible speed with my blade. This form is one of absolute defense. However, its effectiveness is limited as fast and numerous attacks can break through."

Nagisa swiftly charges at the Shuuki as he held the hilt of his katana tightly with both of his hands. Just as the Shuuki noticed him, Nagisa saw the creature lift up both of its arms as it clasped both of its hands together and tried to slam them down on him.

"Water Breathing, Second Form:Water Wheel!"

Seeing what the Shuuki was trying to do, Nagisa leaped forward into the air and performs a front flip, releasing a singular vertical slash in a circular motion. This allowed him to slice through both of the Shuuki's hands as the beast yelled out in pain. Seeing this, Nagisa merely glanced at Yachiho.

"Golden Hour!"

Just as Yachiho struck another pose, time stood still. Suddenly she took out her own weapon, a gun customized for eradicating Shuuki, and shot several bullets at the Shuuki's eyes, nose, and neck. The moment she did, time resumed as the Shuuki was now covered in blood and several bullet holes. Noticing the damage, Nagisa has a small smirk appear on his face as he decided to land the final blow. Soon Nagisa focused all of his strength into his arms as he was close to the Shuuki's head.

"Water Breathing, First Form:Water Surface Slash!!!!"

After crossing his arms and building up enough momentum, Nagisa performed a single concentrated slash in a horizontal manner as he managed to slice through the Shuuki's neck. Soon the rest of the Shuuki's body began to fall to the ground as Nagisa lands on his feet.

"Well, that takes care of that. I owe you one, Azuma-san."

"....."

As Nagisa looked over to where Yachiho was, he saw the girl was completely stunned. This was the first time she actually saw Nagisa fight, and to say she was surprised was an understatement. Flow, flexibility, adaptability. All of those traits of water were perfectly replicated in Nagisa's movements and techniques.

"We managed to defeat the Shuuki on our patrol like the chief wanted. We better head back before she starts to get worried."

"Jani-.....Tomioka."

Just as Nagisa was walking towards the base, he was stopped as Yachiho called out to him. This was a shock for him since this was the first time she actually called him by his name. As Nagisa turned around, he saw the girl walking by him with a tint of red on her face due to embarrassment of what she will say next.

".......your swordsmanship isn't too bad to look at."

Having said that, Yachiho hurried to the base. Meanwhile, Nagisa was at a lost for words. Though he couldn't help but feel a bit happy that someone thought his swordsmanship was beautiful and not outdated. With a small smile forming on his face, he began to walk back to the base.

"Your Golden Hour is pretty cool too, Azuma-san."

"How do you know about Yuuki?"

That was the first question asked by the young woman on the phone. She was a beautiful well-endowed young woman who has silver hair which extends up to her thighs, her hair has bangs on the side of her forehead, in the center while two chunks reach her shoulders and pink eyes where her eyes appear slit.

The young woman was dressed in her Anti-Demon Corps uniform, consisting of a navy blue militia tunic, cap that has red highlights, white gloves, a short skirt, thigh-high boots. Additionally, she wore unique accessories on her ears that resemble flat, blue, curved horns that stick up from her hair.

Anti-Demon Corps 7th Unit Chief:Kyouka Uzen

"You even know his name? That makes this easier, Kyouka-chan. You see, I found an interesting boy and decided to let him stay with my corps as well. Apparently him and your "slave" Yuuki were both caught in a Mato Incident and were separated. So I was wondering if you were willing to meet up with Tomioka-san, with Wakara Yuuki with you, of course."

"Always marching to the best of your own drum, aren't you, Tenka. Yuuki and I are heading somewhere tomorrow for our break. However, I will let the rest of my unit know ahead of time of Tomioka's arrival. He can wait for our return there. I'll make sure my unit treats him well."

After saying her piece, Kyouka hung up the phone as she was now deep in thought. The main reason Kyouka let Yuuki in was due to his amazing caretaker skills and because he's part of her ability. So she absolutely needed him around considering how much power she could draw from him.

Slave:Kyouka's unique power lets her draw out the potential of people she has chained, turning them into her Slave, this grants them enhanced physical prowess, as in the case for most of the Shuuki she enslaved. However, in the case of Yuuki, a normal human, he transforms into a different form whenever used, which granted him several benefits. The more compatible Kyouka is with whoever became the Slave, the greater the power the enslaved person can use.

"But from what both Yuuki and Tenka told me, he doesn't posses any powers. So what is it that made her want to keep him around. Not to mention........Tomioka. Could he actually be-"

"Kyouka-san, dinner is ready. Did you finish that important call you had to take?"

As Kyouka turned around, she saw Yuuki standing at the door to the break room. Kyouka simply nods her head as she began to walk out the room. While she did this, she turned her head towards Yuuki.

"I'm getting ready to let the others know, but I think you have the right to learn of this first. A young man by the name of Tomioka Nagisa was found by the 6th Unit Chief and will be visiting this place tomorrow.  I'm letting the rest of the 7th Unit know so they can be on their best behavior."

Having said that, Kyouka simply walked off. As for Yuuki, his hands clenched into fists as a smile was forming on his face. Soon a few tears were escaping his eyes as he was happy to hear the news. He already lost his sister to a Mato Incident, so learning his best friend was okay filled him with nothing but relief.

"We're almost there. We'll see each other soon, so wait for me, Nagi."
