Debra won. With 5 years of dedication, preparation, teamwork, hard work and trust in her subordinates on the battlefield, she was able to free Canada from the terrorists that teamed up with the mafia, put them all in prison, and save her city from tyranny

Gone were the screams of fear, the looks of terror, the cries of battle, the sound of gunshots, the light of flashbangs, the mist of smoke bombs, the booms of explosives, and the laughter of cruelty. They were now replaced with cheers of victory, the reunion of families, and tears of both grief and joy

Now, there was a funeral service to arrange. A massive, mournful, multi-funeral service. It made the impact of war clear to those who weren't in the army, like a pile of toxic waste dumped into the water system. There was also rebuilding to be done. Along with families to inform them about their loved ones that died in her army

Debra had a lot on her plate for the next two weeks. Her daughter Ellie, under the guise of "Anti-War", helped take down many of the terror mafia bases that were formed by crime families in the war. It was almost 2 years ago that Debra not only learned of her daughter's efforts in protecting the city but actually met her for the first time since she was a newborn

And she couldn't be more proud of the hero she'd become. The baby she gave birth to before joining the army had taken it upon herself to help those in need and weaken the crime families that threatened to turn Canada into a war zone. She never expected Ellie to put others ahead of herself in the same way she did. It not only made her proud of herself for enlisting in the military but also gave her the determination to build a relationship with her daughter. She needed to make up for missing out on 18 years of her only child's life

Now, Ellie lay in a hospital bed that was in her room, next to the desk Debra used to write down reports to the president about the status of Canada. As she sent her latest report to the president's office, she was about to call the loved ones of the soldiers who died in battle when she heard a familiar voice to her right "Mom?" She turned her head to the sound of the voice and saw her daughter awake, but looking tired and confused

"Hey, sweetie" was all she could say in response. The urge to wrap her arms around her offspring was undeniable. In the time she and her army worked together with Ellie, she never even shared a proper embrace with her. She wanted nothing more than to hold her child in her arms again. It wasn't that simple though. Ellie's injuries consisted of more than a bullet wound to the abdomen, even with said bullet now removed. She'd rather wait a little longer than harm her daughter, unlike her father, who abused her brother and lied about him being heartless

However, she had no time to focus on the past. There were calls to make, funerals to arrange and now, memories to make with her daughter. After she fully recovered, that is "You need to rest right now, you were severely hurt. Save your strength, okay?" Ellie looked confused as her mother turned back to her desk, but then glanced at her left arm, which was currently in a cast. She could also feel where she'd been shot and winced "You got a mirror?" She asked, curious to see the battle wounds on her face

"To your right" Her mother answered, pointing to the bedside table next to Ellie's bed. Ellie glanced over and saw the small mirror on the bedside table and grabbed it, using it to check for wounds, which consisted of bandages that covered cuts and bruises all around her face, a split lip, and what she could assume was dried blood that was once dripping down her head, nose and mouth "Well, at least we won. How'd I not get a swollen eye, though?" The girl wondered in confusion

Flashback to 3 days ago

Debra ran faster than she ever had in her entire life. No mission, no exercise, no training, nothing had ever pushed her to run with zero concern for her own safety like this before. She wasn't even thinking, just running into a burning city with no idea where to go, holding her gun to shoot whoever got in her way. She was just following the sound of grunting and shouting. Until she heard a gunshot and saw something that made her act purely on instinct
