"𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐓?" Valerie heard a voice ask behind her. She looked up and saw Dean.

"I don't know actually" Valerie said and looked back at the tv while Dean sat down next to her feet which she had rested on the couch, "it was on when I got here"

"Why aren't you with Julie?" He asked not giving her a glance.

"She's on a call with her mother up in our room"

  "Okay" Dean said.

  "Why do you ask?"

"Because it looks like you're almost sown together" he joked and they laughed.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that"

  "Look I'm sorry for today"

  "It's fine"

  "I'm not actually that cold"

"I get it" Valerie said, "you don't have to apologise"

"I just wanted you to know that" it got a little bit more silent and Valerie sighed.

"You could repay me in candy though"

  "What?"

"There's a kiosk down the road"

  "You wanna go there now?"

  "Yeah"

"Let's go then" Dean said and got up Valerie following shortly behind. They took their jackets and left.

"So tell me about yourself" Valerie said.

"Well I'm from Chicago Illinois. I started playing hockey when I was 14 and I'm eighteen now" Dean said.

  "That late?"

"Yeah" he chuckled, "I have a younger sister named Delilah, and an older brother named Daniel— and I live with them and my mother. Now it's your turn"

"Well I'm from Bangor Maine. I started playing hockey when I was 12. I am an only child and I live with my mother and my father, right next to Julie actually"

By this time they were already at the kiosk. Dean and Valerie stepped inside as they heard the beep from the sliding doors and they picked out their candy.

"You know I was kidding about you paying, right?" Valerie said.

"No it's on me" Dean answered, "I want to"

"You sure?"

"Yeah" Dean said as he put down his pack of trolli and Valerie's nerds.

"Is that all?" the woman behind the counter asked.

"Yes" Dean answered.

"Okay, that'll be 3.99" the woman said and Dean payed for them.

"Thank you, have a good night" Valerie said as they were leaving.

"I don't get how you're always happy" Dean said as he ate a gummy worm.

"I don't even know" Valerie chuckled.

"I'm not saying that it's a bad thing though"

"Well thank you" Valerie thanked, "you don't seem so bitter either Portman"

"What if I'm only faking?"

"But your not"

"You don't know that"

"But I do"

"How"

"Because you haven't even noticed we're already at the hotel" Valerie said not breaking eye contact, "good night Portman— see you tomorrow"
