Gray x Natsu ~ Getting Over Them

Chapter 7

Gray's POV:

My heart was racing. I walk over to Natsu after I closed the door behind him, I give him a hug from behind. He tenses up before relaxing and turns to face me. A light blush was on his face and he hugged back. I made a mental note of that. I buried my head in his neck and took a deep breath.

"You smell good" I admit. He did smell really good. I pull back to see Natsu's face, the pink tint spread to his ears. His eyes flicker down to my lips for a second. I make a mental note of both of those things.

"You smell like a winter forest which in my opinion is good". I take a mental note of the fact that he complimented me and thinks I smell good. Natsu then kisses me and I quickly kiss back. He kissed me first, another mental note.

Natsu wraps his arms around my neck pulling me closer. I put a hand on Natsu's thigh and another on his butt and gently lift them telling him to jump up. Natsu gets the hint and jumps up, wrapping his legs around my waist. The hand I had on his thigh moved up to his back to support him. I slammed him against the wall, a bit roughly but not hard enough to hurt him.

I pulled back from the kiss and kiss the skin behind his ear, causing a shiver to run through his spine. I lightly nibble his earlobe before pulling away to take his vest off but stopped when I heard knocking at the door. I quickly set Natsu down on the bed and went to open the door, hoping that we didn't look suspicious.

Behind the door stands Erza, Lucy, and Wendy. "Hey Gray! We came to see if you guys wanted to get some food" Lucy says cheerfully as always. Before I'm able to answer Wendy speaks.

"Are you feeling alright? You look a bit red. Natsu also looks a bit red". Wendy pulls my shoulders down a bit so she can put a hand on my forehead and then does the same to Natsu.

"We're fine Wendy. And I'm always ready for food!" Natsu says patting Wendy's head. Natsu abruptly stands up racing out of the door, Lucy and Wendy race to catch up with him. This leaves Erza and I. As we begin walking Erza starts talking.

"So find anything out?"

"In that span of a few minutes, I could pick up 6 things that could indicate something but I still don't believe that he could ever like me"

"Gray, he likes you and he has for a long time"

After Erza spoke the rest of the walk stayed silent until we reached the group of three. We stopped in the doorway when Erza put a hand on my shoulder.

"Watch his behavior during dinner and if you feel convinced confess to him"

I nod. As we walk over to the group I catch Natsu staring at me before quickly looking away. Instead of sitting next to Natsu, I sit across from him to see how he reacts because of that.

Natsu's POV:

'Where's Gray? He should be here right now. Did something happen? Why the hell am I so worried and why do I care. He can go suck a dick. Preferably mine. Wait I didn't think that, did I?'

"Hey Natsu, what are you thinking about?" Lucy asks me causing me to snap out of my train of thoughts.

"Just wondering where Gray is" I admit not mentioning the rest of the thoughts.

"Oh yeah he isn't here yet, neither is Erza. Maybe they're off doing something... Wait! Since when have you cared about Gray?"

"Uh I don't, I just want to eat d-.. have an eating contest!

"Now that I think about it, you and him have seemed closer lately" Lucy suddenly squealed "Do you like Gray?!"

I can feel my face heating up "No!"

"You do! I knew it!"

"Shut up!" I yelled but then leaned forward a bit and quietly said "Can you please not tell anyone?"

Lucy was taken back by what I had just said but nodded nonetheless. Talking to you ex about your current crush is weird.

I notice movement out of the corner of my eye and look over to the doorway to see Gray and Erza. I feel a bit of anxiety growing inside of me. I think back to what Lucy said "Oh yeah he isn't here yet, neither is Erza. Maybe they're off doing something". 'What could that something have been? Are they secretly together? No Gray would have told me. Why do I care so much! I think back to another thing Lucy said "Do you like Gray?!" 'Is that why I'm having all these weird thoughts and feelings?'

I glance back over to the pair to see Erza's hand on Gray's shoulder. They were both smiling. The pit of anxiety resting in my stomach grows even more. I feel jealous. Suddenly I don't feel like eating.

I was still staring at them, when they began to walk over. Gray makes eye contact with me and realizes I was staring. I quickly advert my gaze and stare blankly at the menu in front of me. Wendy was on my right while Lucy was across from us. There was a spot open on my left but Gray sat next to Erza who sat down next to Lucy. I become more jealous at the fact that Gray was sitting next to Erza instead of me. A lump grows in my throat and my eyes begin burning.

"I'm gonna go to the bathroom, be right back!" I say in the most cheerful tone I can manage. I run off into the bathroom and walk up to a sink. I turn the faucet on and cup my hands together. A small pool of water forms which I splash on my face. I stare at my reflection for a moment before the lump finally escapes my throat. Tears find there way down my cheeks. I slide down against the wall and bury my head in my knees allowing myself to cry.

After a few minutes I try my best to stop crying. I look in the mirror and thankfully it's not very obvious that I was crying. You had to pay really close attention to notice. The main thing that gave it away was the occasional sniffles. Although a few tears still threatened to slid down my cheeks I wiped them away, took a deep breath and headed back to the table.

"Hi Natsu! What took you so long?" Wendy asks as I sat back down next to her.

"Sorry I must have lost track of time" I laugh. I notice Erza and Gray giving me an odd look but I tried my best to avoid eye contact with them. The waiter then came up.

"Hi I'm-"

"Cobra?!" we say in shock.

"Quiet down dumbass. I left then name Cobra behind. My real name is Eric. I don't need them knowing I was part of the Oracion Seis" Eric says.

"But why the hell are you working here?" I ask.

"You try and find a decent guild to join when you have the track record I do" Eric scoffs.

"Wouldn't everyone's voices be annoying?"

"I can silence everyone out whenever I please. The only exception that I can't are other dragon slayers. But what can I get for you guys today?"

Once everyone said their orders it was my turn. The others let out a small sigh at how much food she thought I was about to order.

"I'll just take a basket of fries and a water". The table then went dead silent in pure shock. "What?"

"You...you didn't order a bunch of food" Lucy says.

"Are you feeling alright?" Erza asks.

"Yeah, just not very hungry" I reply.

After a few more moments everyone went back to what they were doing besides Gray. I could feel him staring at me. Eric suddenly comes back and asks if he can talk to me. We head on over to the bathroom.
