Gray x Natsu ~ Getting Over Them

Chapter 8

Grays POV:

I watch as Natsu wanders over to the bathroom alongside Eric. "What'a up with him?" Lucy questions to no one in particular.

"I'm guessing he's feeling jealous" Erza says.

"Jealous?" Lucy, Wendy, and I say in unison. My eyes widen silently when I realize why he would feel jealous.

"Shit" I mumble running my hand through my hair.

"I'm not following" Lucy says.

"Natsu likes Gray. He saw Gray and I talking and began to worry that we were together" Erza pauses before continuing "Gray then sat next to me instead of Natsu which only worsened those feelings and resulted in him going to the bathroom because he felt uncomfortable and overwhelmed. He also didn't get much to eat because he lost his appetite after seeing Gray and I" Erza concludes.

Lucy and Wendy remained silent for a moment until Wendy spoke up.

"Gray do you like Natsu?".

I nod and stare down at the table.

"Why didn't you sit next to him?" This question came from Lucy.

"I wanted to try and figure out how he felt so I sat across from him to see his reaction"

"When he returns, sit next to him" Erza says. I slump against the table and a minute later Natsu returns. I move to sit next to him. Which surprises him before a smile finds its way onto his face.

Natsu's POV:

"What's up?" I ask Eric after we closed the door.

"As much as I hate it, I can hear all of your thoughts and just gotta say, that's some concerning shit you got going on in that peanut sized brain of yours"

"Hey!" I yell "I don't have a peanut sized brain!"

"Jeez calm down. I already know what's wrong but talking about shit seems to help so talk" Eric says.

I stare at him blankly for a few moments before talking. "Gray and I decided to do a "friends with benefits" thing to get over our exes but I've realized I like him. And now he might be secretly together with Erza! I mean what should have I expected, he's straight and why would someone ever like me? Im a stupid, clumsy, reckless, annoying, flame brain who has no self control! And he's handsome, smart, strong, funny, just fucking amazing and perfect in my eyes... How could someone as worthless as me, be with someone as great as he is!". I punch the wall, causing a small dent but not too much damage.

"All of that you said about yourself isn't true. Have Gray tell you that because I can choose to hear his thoughts and he definitely wants to suck you off. He's not with Erza and he likes you. Now you better confess so you can get his cock inside of you before someone else does" Eric says with a cocky grin.

"Stop talking about dirty shit! But thanks, I should head back" I say and begin walking towards the exit of the bathroom.

"Okay. I know you want to suck him off too, try out 69 position" Eric laughs.

"I will punch you!"

"Doubt it'll land"

"I've beaten you before I'll do it again"

"I would like to see you try"

I roll my eyes before running back over to the table to find the girls chatting while Gray was slumped against the table. He immediately perked up when he caught sight of me and moved to sit next to me. I was happy about it but before I was able to say
anything food arrived.

The girls continued talking while silence hung over Gray and I. I glance over to Gray just to find him staring at me. We stare at each other for a few seconds before turning back to our food, both blushing.

I decide to listen into the girl's conversation, seeing as there wasn't anything else to do. Bad choice. Girl talk is boring. I notice Erza staring at Lucy almosy admirably before her face dropped a bit when Lucy began to talk about Loke. I'll have to ask her about that late.

"Sooo... what did Eric want?" Gray asks breaking the silence and pulling my attention away from the girls.

"Oh that, he was making fun of my thoughts! It was so rude. I bet he has disgusting thoughts" I exclaim making up a lie.

"I'm surprised there are any thoughts inside your thick skull"

"Hey! I think!"

"Whatever you say"

Silence falls over Gray and I once again but is quickly broken by the others.

"I heard there's a pool here. Wanna check it out?" Lucy asks.

"Yes!" Wendy and I answer.

"We can't stay for long. We still have a mission to do" Erza says.

"We'll hurry up so we can go!" Lucy says.

Turns out I was the only one who had food left, and my food was completely untouched but no problem for me. I quickly eat my food, almost choking in the process.

"Let's go!"

-time skip-

About 5 minutes after we left dinner, Gray and I were at the entrance of the pool.

"Wanna see who can make it into the pool first and swim to the the other side?" Gray challenges.

"Your on!" I yell and we both take off towards the pool. Thankfully the pool was deserted at this time so no one had to worry about getting out of the way.

Gray and I make it to the water and the same time and jump it. We race to the other side, both of us doing freestyle strokes. I look over to Gray to see him slightly ahead. I pick up the pace and move ahead of him by just a bit before he takes the led again. It carries on until we reach the end with him taking the led and then I go ahead of him until he takes the led again. Just as we reach the end Gray manages to pull ahead last second and wins.

"I won!" Gray cheers. I splash him in reply to his victory, which turns into a splashing fight until the girls arrive and force us to stop.

We all mess around in the pool for a bit, even Erza joins in on the fun every so often. Erza forces us to head back inside seeing as we have a mission to do tomorrow. As we're walking to our rooms Erza pulls Gray aside and I frown, the pit of jealously rising back up. I then remember what Eric said.

"Have Gray tell you that because I can choose to hear his thoughts and he definitely wants to suck you off. He's not with Erza and he likes you".

He definitely didn't have to say it that dirty but Im thankfully for what he said anyways. Even if it was an invasion of Gray privacy and also mine.

'Gray likes me... maybe I'll confess soon'. A smile comes onto my face and I discover a newfound confidence. I plan on confessing tonight but as I enter our room and am now alone with Gray, I feel the confidence draining from my body.

This is going to be harder than I thought

Sorry the chapter took so long to get out. I do plan on writing more and hopefully getting chapters out sooner.

I was also just thinking that the song "I hate everything about you" by Three Days Grace fits Gray and Natsu really well
