After a long hot bath in the Vacker's house, I changed into a pink nightgown and sat in Biana's room with Biana and Fitz. We went over the checklist and our bags.
"Did we pack the bottle of fire?" I went down the list.
"Right here." Fitz set it carefully in the large green bag.
"Hopefully it doesn't break on the way to the site." Biana mumbled. "Fitz, I thought you said Keefe was coming." There was eagerness in her voice. I could tell that Biana had a crush on Keefe.
"Apparently his father wanted him to stay home and meet us tomorrow at the gate." Fitz shrugged.
Biana frowned and stared at her bed.
The door opened and Fitz and Biana's mother came in, with a strawberry blonde haired boy. Della quickly left to leave us alone.
"Dex?!" We exclaimed in unison. Biana and I were surprised and Fitz was glaring. A smile tugged at my lips.
"Sophie! Were you kidnapped? What happened? Are you okay?" He rushed his words.
"I'm not kidnapped, we're going camping, and I'm fine." I answered all his questions, though he still shot questioning glances at Fitz.
"What's camping?" He scratched his head.
"Sleeping outside with friends and having fun." Fitz sounded like he wanted Dex to be jealous.
It worked. "Can I come?"
"No. You're not invited and the tent can only fit 4 people." Fitz was starting to sound rude.
"I'm sorry, Dex, but we could tell you all about it when we get back." I shrugged.
His face fell. "Okay then." He left dejectedly.
After Dex left, I playfully glared at Fitz. "Why the rudeness?" Followed by a "yeah" from Biana.
"If we don't be rude he'll think he's welcome to go. And we don't have the space." Fitz countered.
We all laughed at the silly thought, but I was slightly gloomy at the thought of Dex being unhappy.
"When do we leave tomorrow?"
"Around daybreak."
"Well, I'm tired. I'm going to bed."
***************
We met up with Keefe at the gate to the beautiful city of Eternalia. I could tell he was moody without being an Empath. His usual handsome features were scrunched up and he flashed a too bright smile when we arrived.
"Hey guys!" He sounded too enthusiastic. "I thought you would never arrive!" Both me and Fitz could see what was wrong. Biana, however, was oblivious.
"These two slow pokes took so much time getting up." I instantly blushed. I didn't want to get up because Della made me wear a white dress that came down to my knees and sandles that matched.
"What? You think Fitz's disgusting face becomes this overnight?" He puts his arm around Fitz, who laughed. Not a real laugh, but a laugh.
"Maybe." I stared at my feet.
"Dude!" Keefe poked Fitz. "She said you're ugly!"
"Shaddup." Fitz took the lead. "Let's get a move on." We didn't argue and followed Fitz as he took us to the camp site. It was a large grassy area surrounded by trees. I thought one of the bushes shook, but it's probably one of the many exotic creatures here.
"Camping... Starts... NOW!" I shouted, startling my friends.
