My friend and I were partying at a club having fun when we decided it was late and call it a night. We had just gotten out and were walking to our houses. I sensed that someone was following us. I kept turning my head to the side to check if there was anyone. No one was there. Maybe it was the silent road and no one around that spooked me. While we were talking, we suddenly heard footsteps approaching us, feeling them stare at our backs. I moved closer to Layla wrapping my arm with hers.
"Layla?" I said.
"I know." She said gripping my hand. We walked faster changing our route to not let them know where we live. We turned a right only to be met with a brick wall. We turned around to see two men approaching us. One of them had a gun while the other had a knife. My hands grip Layla's arm while my heart begins to race.
"What do you want from us?" Layla asked, her voice cracking and her hands shaking.
"Don't worry, darling. We're just getting our revenge." The one with gun said smirking. Layla froze and her eyes widen.
"What?!" I exclaimed.
"They will pay for what their fathers did."
The one with the knife approached us. We walked backwards. Our back hit the wall. "Please, don't." Layla pleaded. While we were focused on the guy, we heard glass shattering. We all turn to the noise to see the man with the gun was lying on the floor with shards of glass on and around his bleeding head. A man was next to him holding a handle.
"What the hell?!" The one with the knife exclaimed. He runs toward the man swinging his knife. The man easily dodges backwards. He quickly holds his arm and takes his knife slitting his throat.
He walked up to us and asked, "Are you alright?" I was too shocked to speak.
"Y-y-yes, thank you so much." Layla stuttered
"Come with me, I can take you home." He said. Me and Layla glanced at each other getting the same thought. Noticing this, he added, "It's okay, I won't do anything. I'm just going to take you girls home."
"Umm, o-okay." I managed to say. He leads us to his car. It was in a bad shape. "You should stay at my house." Layla noded. We thankfully arrived at my house entering through the driveway. I felt safe seeing the lights leading up to the mansion. I walk out the car to see my father walking out the door with an angry expression.
"Where have you been, Annalise?" He asked. I run up to him and hug him tightly. "What's wrong?" I told him what happened tonight while he comforted me. "I have to get you a bodyguard right away." He walks up to the man. "Thank you so much. What is your name?"
"Leonardo revero, Sir." He answered.
"My name is Benedict Hansler." They shake hands
"Wait, are you the CEO of the Hansler advertising company?"
"Yes."
"No way. I worked there for a while with Andrew smith."
"Really, you're the one who worked with Andrew? He's worked really hard since you left. What are you doing now?"
"I'm looking for a job."
"Well, would you mind if you changed careers and be my daughter's bodyguard. I would like an answer by tomorrow."
"Yes, sir. I'll think about it." Leonardo got in the car and left.
"Well, you're lucky." Layla said as we walk in the house.
I told Lisa to prepare a room for Layla and head to my room saying good night to Layla. I sit on my bed and hug my legs knowing that I couldn't protect myself yet again.
