I was in the process of putting on my dress as the event was about to begin. The dress I selected for the event was a form-fitting, black, off-the-shoulder, sweetheart dress with matching black high-heels. I looked in the mirror, adjusting my makeup. Layla walked in, wearing a midnight blue jumpsuit with floral designs on it. The color complemented her blue eyes. The jumpsuit fitted her flawlessly and showed off her curves.A hairstyle that would compliment a jumpsuit would depend on the design of the jumpsuit and the personal preference of the wearer. Generally speaking, a hairstyle that is simple, effortless, and versatile would best match a jumpsuit. she had her long, lush hair secured in a low, loose bun with a claw clip
“Hey.” I said.
“Hi.” She said fidgeting with her fingers.
“Layla, are you nervous?”
“No, why would you ask that?” I answered her by pointing to her hand.
“If there’s something bothering you, you can tell me.” I said hoping there was nothing making her anxious.
“I know… just don’t leave me alone tonight, okay?” She looked worrisome.
“Of course, I won’t leave you.” I smiled, trying to reassure her.
“I wish we could stay in your room.” She said sitting down at the edge of my bed. “I don’t want to go to this event.”
“Yeah, me too.” I sighed. “If only our fathers let us.”
“Mine’s still insisting I take over the company along with Theo.”
“I know you don’t want to but why don’t you try.”
“I don’t want to try.” She became tense. “I don’t even want to be associate with them.”
“I don’t understand why. You don’t know what you want your career to be. You just went with architecture because I wanted to.”
“I’m still figuring it out, okay?” she said. She had never able to decide what she wanted to do, and as a result, her father had been continuously pressuring her to follow his path.
“Okay.” I said dropping the subject. “I want to work there.”
“What? Why didn’t you tell me?” she exclaimed.
“I don’t know.” I shrug.
“Don’t work there.” She said quickly.
“Not you too.” I said vexed
“Listen to me, Anna. Trust me when I say you don’t need to work there. It’s better to graduate college and get a good paying job.”
“No, it’s would be better to work where I would be comfortable. We know most employees and it’s a good environment to work at. It makes sense work there or is there something that I don’t know about?” She remained quiet. “Layla!” I raised my voice.
“No, Annalisa.” She yelled. “Just no.”
The air was still and quiet. Neither of us spoke, but that tense moment was interrupted by a knock on the door.
“Miss, Most of the guests are arriving. Mr. Hansler is demanding for you to come down.” Lisa said through the door without entering.
“Okay. Thank you, Lisa.” I said.
“I’m sorry.” Layla said standing up. “Let’s not talk about it anymore and enjoy the night.” She smiles.
“Yeah, we should have fun. It’s been a tough week.” I smiled and stood up.
“Don’t leave me alone tonight.”
“I won’t.”
