It was almost sundown and we had dropped Layla at her house. So far the day was ... uneventful, I guess that's the word that fits. The whole time Leonardo was beside me, even when I was hanging hanging out with my friends. The only time he wasn't beside me was at class. He would stand next to the door. My friends were very intimidated by him that they were scared to come near me. Some would smile, wave and leave.

I can't stop gawking at him. Every time I get the chance, I would gaze at him. The way he carries himself, the way he sweeps his hair away from his face and the broad width of his shoulders is intimidating. I was staring at him through the rear view mirror. I wanted to run my fingers through his curly hair. His lips looked soft. I wonder if it is. My eyes wandered to his amber ones with little specks of gold. There're barely visible but if you stare attentivly, you can percieve it. Whenever I would stay too long gazing at his eyes, I would get lost in them. His eyes wandered to mine through the mirror and I immediately turned my head to look out the window. The hot blush that swept across my cheeks was hard to miss, and I was sure he had noticed it.

I had barely stepped out of the car when I quickly made my way towards my room. As I was approaching the stairs, I heard someone calling my name. I stopped in my tracks and turned to find dad and my brother Theo sitting nearby.

"Anna!" Theo said getting up and spreading his arms. I ran up to him and hugged him.

"I missed you." I said burying my face in his chest.

"I missed you too." He hugged me firmly.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming back?"

"I wanted it to be a surprise." He said smirking

"How was Brazil?"I asked letting go of him with a grin on my face.

"It was cool. You have to visit sometime." Theo had gone to Brazil for a business trip. He will be inheriting the company when dad retires. I would like to be in the company. But every time I try to bring it up, they change the subject.

"Anna, Dinner is almost ready.

I walked down the stairs and headed to the dining table. I sat on the opposite side of dad and Theo.

"How was your day, Anna?" Dad asked taking a bite of his food.

"It was...okay. But Leonardo was too intimidating?" I said.

"Well, isn't that good?"

"I don't want my friends scared of hanging out with me because of him."

"Who's Leonardo?" Theo asked.

"He's her bodyguard." Dad answered.

"Why does she need a bodyguard?"

"She got attacked last night."

"What?" Theo exclaimed. Dad explained everything to Theo. "Wow!" Theo said flabbergasted.

"Yeah." I said. It was awkward silence until I asked, "When do you think I should intern in the company?"

"We shouldn't talk about business right now. We should celebrate that you brother came home. Speaking of celebrating, we are organizing an event on Saturday night for Theo." Dad said. There it is, changing the subject again.

"Is it going to be a big one?" I asked frowning. There is nothing for me to do but stay quiet. I can argue with him.

"No. It's just a couple of friends and coworkers."

"I hope Layla's coming." Theo said.

"Of course, she's coming. You know Mr. Lopez won't let her refuse." I confirmed as Theo nodded. He would always ask about Layla. I think it's because he cared for her like a sister.

The days flew by quickly and it's Saturday already. I woke up early in the morning and got ready for a run. I went on runs four times a week. It helped me clear my mind. I walked down the stairs and out the door. My eyes widen with shock when I see Leonardo. His physique was on full display. Though his outfit appeared effortless, it had a casual yet stylish edge.

"G-good morning."I stuttered walking up to him witha blush on my cheeks. "What are you doing here?"

"I've been told your schedule and you go on a run around this time."

"And let me guess, you have to be by my side all the time." I said sarcastically.

"Yes , I have strict orders, Miss." He said witha stern look on his face. "Shall we go?"

"Umm... okay."

I typically run three miles on those four days I run. Since we began our run about a mile ago, he hasn't spoken a word. I've been wracking my brain for a conversation starter, but nothing is coming to mind. I want to get to know him better since he's so closed off. But it's hard to find a topic to talk about that he might be interested in. I decided to ask him some questions and see how he responded.

"Is this your first time being a bodyguard?" I asked

"Yes."

"Umm... do... you have any siblings?"

"I do."

"How many?"

"One."

"Do you have a sister or a brother?"

"Sister."

"How old is she?"

"Miss, I'm here to keep you safe, not to chat." He said vexed. Feeling a wave of embarrassment wash over me, my cheeks flushed pink as I suddenly realized how silly my question must have sounded.

Our run went by in silence and we returned to the mansion. Upon reaching my room, I took a shower, feeling a bit disappointed that we had not talked more. I couldn't help but wish that I had gotten to know him better.

I wasn't looking forward to attending the event tonight, but didn't have much of a choice. I knew luke would be there, and my goal was to just avoid him the best I could. However, the thought of seeing him was making me feel very anxious, and I wasn't sure how I would handle the situation if we did end up running into each other.
