Y/n's POV
Sitting across from grandma in the restaurant we had agreed to have lunch at with my fork halfway to my mouth I look at her with wide eyes as I try to register what she had just said while she looks at me with a soft smile. Lowering my fork back onto the plate I reach out for my glass with a shaky hand without looking away from grandma and finish the last few mouthfuls of my wine making her look at me nervously. "Okay, you're worrying me now darling. What's going through your head? What are you thinking?" She asks as she reaches over the table for my hand and I take it with a slight squeeze.
"I'm thinking that you may have finally lost your mind! You want me, the family member with no acting abilities whatsoever, to play you in a movie that my husband is playing grandad in?" I ask her and she nods as she strokes her finger over the back of my hand softly. "Grandma, I... I think that you should ask mum. She'd be ten times better at playing you and although I'd rather my mum not kiss my husband it would just work better." I say and she shakes her head with a chuckle.
"It was actually your mum's idea that you do it because you and Austin have the natural chemistry that me and your grandad did. You don't have to be an actress to do this movie y/n, you just be who you are and be part of not just your love story but mine and your dad's as well." She tells me and I look at her with wide eyes. "I cannot and will not force you to do this but I genuinely can't think of anyone better than our little girl to play me."
"I don't want to let grandad down grandma." I admit and have to blink back tears making her look at me confused. "I never got to meet him grandma and I just... what if I completely suck and ruin the movie? I'd be letting you, grandad and Austin down." I say and she looks at me with a shake of her head.
"You could never let me or your grandad down sweetheart, we love you so much and I promise that you won't ruin this movie." She tells me with a small smile and I clear my throat as I look at her. "I wish that you believed us when we tell you that you're beyond talented y/n and your grandad would have been so proud of you. Especially seeing as you followed in his footsteps with your music career." She says and I chuckle at that.
"Did mum tell you what happened on my last tour?" I ask her with a smile and she raises an eyebrow at me making me laugh. "I don't know why because I've never done it before but I did a request section in my last show and someone requested I sing suspicious minds. I think mum may have got it on video actually." I tell her and she looks at me pointedly making me laugh as I grab my phone out of my bag. Scrolling through mine and mum's conversations until I find the video she had sent me and pass the phone over to grandma.
"Okay, I don't normally do this but seeing as this is the last show of this tour I'm going to change it up a bit." I tell everyone and smile when I see some of the signs in the audience. "Let's do some song requests, not just mine but anyones. Name the song and artist and I'll try my best to sing it for you." I say and there's a whole load of shouting making me laugh. "Okay, let's calm down for a minute and figure out how to do this." I add with a chuckle while biting my lip as I look over the audience. Seeing a little girl in the front of the audience holding a sign saying that she loves me while wearing a top with grandad's face on it and walk over to her. "What would you like me to sing cutie?"
"Can you sing suspicious minds? My grandaddy loves that song." She says and I have to blink back my tears as I nod in return making her grin.
"Of course I can cutie, would you like to come up and help me? So long as it's okay with your parents that is." I ask and she nods happily while her mum nods with a grin. Helping her up onto the stage we walk back to the main area and I nod to the band to start the music making the little girl bounce happily. "Alright cutie, are you ready?"
"Yeah!" She all but shouts making the audience laugh while I soothe down her curls with a smile.
"We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?" I sing the first verse before crouching beside the happy girl to let her sing the chorus."We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspiscious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds." She sings and I can't believe how amazing she sounds at such a young age."So if an old friend I know
Stops to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see the tears are real, I'm crying
(Yes I'm crying)" I sing with a grin as she spins around and dances making me chuckle on the last few words."We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (suspiscious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds." She sings the chorus again and I can see the sheer joy in her face."Oh let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
When honey, you know I'd never lie to you
Mmm, yeah, yeah." I sing and there's a slight gap in the lyrics making me look at the little girl with a smile. "Want to help me finish up?" I ask and she nods excitedly making me laugh at her energy levels."We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.
Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby.Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap?" We sing together and I find myself tackled in a tight hug as the song finishes making me smile as I hug her back.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She whispers in my ear before running back to her parents making me chuckle as I stand up.
"Holy hell y/n! You can't seriously be telling me you're scared of letting your grandad down when you do a performance of one of his songs as well as that!" Grandma says when the video ends and I blush at that while she grins at me with pride in her eyes. "Will you atleast think about my suggestion? I'm not going to pressure you into it but after that performance you really have nothing to worry about y/n."
"So long as you promise me that you'll help me out and make sure that I don't mess this up I'll do it grandma." I tell her and she nods in return as she passes me my phone back. "The only condition is that you don't go into too many details of what you and grandad got up to." I add and she chuckles while squeezing my hand with another nod.
"I promise darling. Now eat up, before you're food goes cold." She tells me and I happily return to my food with a smile as I listen to her talk more about the movie.
