Chapter 5

(Continuation from last chapter and is also very sad. Just a WARNING)

Eli's POV

"Yup, exactly, I forgot about the video and pictures that I had put on the computer. I was in the middle of school in English and remembered that I had them on my computer still and I had to leave school early to go and make sure my mom hadn't already seen them. I got home and it was oddly quiet so I looked around the house for my mom, but didn't see anyone so I went upstairs. There was this horrid smell that I couldn't even recognize. I followed the scent into the bathroom and it was just the smell of something burnt so I figured my mom must've been trying to curl her hair and accidentally burned off her hair. Then I opened my mom's bedroom door and I couldn't handle what I saw! I wish with all my heart that I could unsee what I saw! The video was playing on repeat and my mom was sitting on the bed with marks of the iron all over her body! She had a gun in her hand and looked right at me in the eyes. She looked over and then looked at the ground and whispered 'I love you Sofia. I wish I could've been the perfect mother and the perfect wife'. I yelled back 'MOM DON'T DO IT I NEED YOU! YOU WERE THE PERFECT MOTHER AND PERFECT WIFE BUT HE JUST COULDN'T REALIZE WHAT HE HAD IN HIS OWN HOME!' She responded with a faint 'I'm sorry sweetheart'. Then the gun went off! I STOOD IN SHOCK! I ran towards her and shouted at her to wakeup and stop joking around so many times, but there was no reaction! I was doing anything to wake her up! She was gone! My mom was gone! Dead.... SHE WAS DEAD BECAUSE OF HIM! THE MAN WHO TREATED HER SO WRONG!!!"

Now even I had a tear, but I had to be the strong pillar to this situation so I sucked it up. She was barely talking now with every word harder and harder to get out. "My mom was gone! My mom is gone! And that loser left us all alone to raise ourselves because the guilt was killing him. For all I care, I hope he's dead by now! All the 'I love you' 's from him were lies! HE IS A FUCKING COWARD, LOSER," Her breathing was so shaky as she was shouting. "HE IS A BETRAYER, CHEATER, AND LIAR WHO RUINED OUR LIVES FOREVER! For two years we have told everyone my mom died in a car accident and my dad is just sad from being the driver of the car and surviving that he just won't get out of the room. But I've told you all the reality and we just keep a room locked forever downstairs and pretend my dad's in there. I'm sorry but your going to have to keep this a secret from everyone. I haven't even told my best friend/sister, Amber."

"Don't worry Sofia! Your secret is safe with me!" I gave her a really tight hug. "Do you want me to walk you home?""How are we supposed to get our cars?"

"We'll get them later tomorrow."

"Okay thank you!"

Sofia's POV

His hug was so warm and comforting. I hadn't had a single hug from anyone for so long. Only my brother ever gave me hugs and that is only when I make the time to go back home and see him.

The only part of the story I had just told Eli that I left out was how my mother was the biggest business woman in the LA area. I didn't tell him my mom's name, so he did not figure it out. My mother had left me and my little brother a lot of money for us to live comfortably after her death. I never like to tell people because I am afraid they will start to come after me or blackmail me for my money. I just don't want unnecessary problems that are avoidable.
