Sofia's POV
His hug was so warm and comforting. I hadn't had a single hug from anyone for so long. Only my brother ever gave me hugs and that is only when I make the time to go back home and see him.
The only part of the story I left out was how my mother was the biggest business woman in the LA area. I didn't tell him any names so he did not figure it out. My mother had left me and my little brother a lot of money for us to live comfortably after her death. I never like to tell people because I am afraid they will start to come after me or blackmail me for my money. I just don't want unnecessary problems that are avoidable.
After that big long venting to Eli, I felt a little bit of awkwardness. I'm trying to collect myself and stop the uncontrollable tears rolling down my cheeks. I can sense that he doesn't know what to talk about. I have to break the silence.
"So, Eli tell me about your family? Who all do you live with?" I question breaking the silence.
"Well, I live with my mom in a house right on the edge of Los Angeles. I have an older sister named Celina but she is in college too and her college is abroad so she is constantly moving from country to country. I didn't want to leave my mom alone at home so I decided to stay with her during college."
"That's cool. If you don't mind me asking, where is your dad?"
"He is in the military so we rarely see him when he's on duty."
"Oh okay"
"I never asked you what's your brothers name and how old is he?" he questioned.
"My little brother's name is Ryland. He is 16, only a junior in high school. After the big incident he has been completely destroyed."
"What do you mean by destroyed?" Eli had a sincerely concerned look on his face.
"I mean he has been involved in drugs, alcohol and those types of things. I always have to make sure I am constantly keeping in contact with him to make sure he is okay. He is my little baby brother and always will be. I felt bad leaving our house to live in a dorm but it think he likes it with the whole house to himself anyways."
"Aww. You're the big sister who is all cutely protective over her brother." He teases.
"Shut up." And I shove him a bit. I don't think he was expecting that because he lost his balance and fell. As he was falling he grabbed my arm to stop him from falling, but I didn't even know he was going to do that. Instead we were both laying in someone else's front lawn. It was really awkward. I was waiting for him to get up, but I realized I was on him and I had to get up first. I quickly got up and put out my hands to help him up. Once we were both off the ground, we brushed all the dead lawn off of our clothes. We started to walk again.
"Wait. Eli. You have so much grass in your hair!" I was laughing. He brushed off his hair making some fall off but there were still a bunch of little pieces in his hair. "Eli it's not coming off do you need help?" He nodded his head.
I went near him and started picking the little grass pieces. The grass was hard to get out, and it was all around his hair. I started picking them from the back to the front. When I got to the front, our faces were really close. It was almost intimate. I was feeling a bit awkward so I quickly got the pieces of grass out and threw them to the floor. After they were all out, we finally started to continue our walk back to my dorm.
"I'm so sorry for pushing you. I didn't know you were going to fall." I was giggling a bit.
Eli's POV
"No I'm sorry. I was not expecting that and then I grabbed your arm." I honestly wouldn't have minded if we stayed like that for a while longer. When we were on the ground I felt like time had just stopped. The way she just looked at me with her big brown eyes, her hair on my face, her body against my body. I was afraid she would hear or feel my heart racing. And when she was getting the grass out of my hair. She came to the front by my face. I honestly felt like I was going to kiss her, but I didn't want to ruin the moment. She was getting flustered and I could see her cheeks getting red. The street light above us. She and I walking together in the light of the moon. I wish I could do this everyday with Sofia. And her name, Sofia. Not with the typical "ph" but with an "f". I didn't realize I was daydreaming until she shook my shoulders.
"Hello. Eli. Are you okay? Why are you standing here grinning?"
"Yessss, yeah I'm fine. I was just thinking about how we fell and it was kind of funny. I mean it was so uncalled for." By now we were both laughing. Sofia was the one who started laughing but her laughing made me laugh with her. I was so in the moment I forgot all about Gabriel, Sofia's boyfriend. I was disappointed to see Sofia's phone ringing with his name flashing.
