The man sat on the chair, his white coat pristine and his stethoscope draped around his neck. Black-rimmed glasses framed his sharp, piercing eyes, and his well-built frame contrasted starkly with the calmness of his demeanor. His dark hair, neatly parted to the side, highlighted his sharp jawline. His face was blank as he wrote something down on a piece of paper.
"These medicines I've prescribed must be taken on time, okay?" His voice was cold and detached, directed at the patient seated before him. "If they're not, your condition will become more critical."
"Yes, Doctor," the patient responded, bowing slightly before leaving the room.
"Call the next patient," Jungkook instructed the nurse, who quickly nodded and called for the next patient with her high-pitched voice.
"Can I come in, Doctor?" A middle-aged woman stepped hesitantly into the room, her voice gentle yet filled with a familiar warmth.
Jungkook looked up from the clipboard he was reviewing. Instantly, his usually stoic expression softened, and a genuine smile lit up his face.
"Oh, Mrs kim! Please come in. Why are you standing there?" He got up, moving towards her with open arms, and enveloped her in a warm hug.
"How are you, Jungkook?" She pulled back slightly, searching his face with motherly concern.
"I'm fine, but why are you here? Is everything okay with your health?" Jungkook's voice was laced with worry as he guided her to the chair and sat back in his own.
"No, no, I'm fine. I'm not here for myself." She hesitated, glancing back at the door.
"Mama," came a soft voice, and Jungkook's heart skipped a beat. He watched as a familiar small figure walked slowly into the room, standing timidly beside the woman.
Jungkook's eyes widened. The person he longed to see, the one who haunted his thoughts for the past two months, was standing right there.
"I'm here because of Taehyung," the woman continued, placing a gentle hand on her son's shoulder. "I want you to give him a thorough check-up."
"What happened to him?" Jungkook's voice was laced with sudden panic as he stood, his gaze glued to Taehyung's form. "Is he hurt? Is he unwell?"
"No, no, nothing like that." She quickly waved her hands, dismissing his concern. "It's just a routine check-up. We want to make sure everything's fine."
"But why the sudden need for a full check-up?" Jungkook's eyebrows furrowed, suspicion creeping into his voice.
She hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Taehyung is getting married, Jungkook."
Jungkook felt as if the ground had been ripped from beneath his feet. "What?!" The word tore from his lips before he could stop himself, his voice loud and incredulous. He quickly composed himself, clearing his throat awkwardly. "I mean... isn't it too soon? He's only nineteen..."
"You know how it is in our society, Jungkook." Her voice turned somber. "Omegas don't have to wait until they turn twenty-one. Most are married by the time they're fourteen. And with everything going on, we thought it would be safer if Taehyung were married. No alpha would dare to harm a marked Omega."
