Our Voices
My voice is fearful, but I have to speak up
if not for me, for the others who are
silenced, the others who are sworn to secrecy, for the others who are scared.
My voice is fearful, but I have to keep my head up, if not for me,
for the others whose hearts ache throughout their days because they cannot leave,
the others whose voices have been hushed,
the others who are too afraid to say anything or they might get hurt or killed.
My voice is fearful, I'm afraid they'll hurt me, shame me, kill me if I were to say anything. Even if those fears do happen, I have to try,
I have to speak up.
My voice is confident, My voice is speaking for the others who are silent during family dinners so they won't get yelled at or hit, My voice is speaking for the others who are
trying their hardest to get by in life, My voice is speaking for the single mothers or the mothers who can't get out of an abusive relationship, who would give just about anything for their child to have a good childhood, a good life, a good family of their own when their older.
My voice is feared by the ones who hurt others, silence others, terrorize others.
My voice is fearless, unfazed, and loud for the others who cannot be heard, for the others who cannot speak, for the others who cannot take action

Our voices are heard at last.
