Lori stuck herself to a nearby building, looking down at the warehouse below her. Sirens of blue and red lights were gathered around the scene, moonlight reflecting off the many cars. She sighed in relief. Thankfully they hadn't yet infiltrated the building. Their interference would almost always mess with her work.

She zipped over to the roof of the warehouse, quiet like a wraith and slipped through an open skylight. It was musty and dark so it took a few seconds for Lori's night vision to adjust. Once it did, she scanned her surroundings. The whole place seemed unstable, with rusted support beams, and loose roof tiles. And from the draft Lori sensed, likely multiple broken windows too.

Though despite it's state, nothing about the building warranted the description of an explosion like the news had said... It simply seemed aged.

Sudden sounds of rattling and banging echoed from below, interrupting her thoughts. Strangely enough, It seemed a fight was in progress. Lori peered over the supporting beam where she stood hoping to catch a glimpse, but her spider senses went off warning her of something coming from below. She somersaulted back, sticking to the roof just in time. A large piece of broken machinery had been flung at where she last stood; a product of the fight. But she caught her breath and swiftly redirected her focus to the ongoing conflict below.

Lori's head came to a tilt as she observed who she supposed were the villains. They both wore suits similar to hers, but their colours differed—red and blue instead of her classic pink and black. The larger figure predominantly wore blue, while the lankier one favoured red. Additionally, both of them sported some kind of futuristic steel watch on their wrists.

The red-clad figure darted around clumsily, running from the other, fwipping his wrist the same way Lori would to shoot a web. Though despite his desperation to escape he apparently still had time to taunt. "I have to say, you spider people are pretty gullible! Maybe you need to upgrade your security in that little spider society of yours?"

"Great advice Chameleon. Maybe you could slip it in the suggestions box next time?" Growled the bigger blue figure, attempting to seize his opponent with his talon-like hands.

Lori raised her brow at the scene, utterly confused. Were they just such big fans of her that they fantasised themselves as spider-people? If that were the case, their get-ups would make sense. But the mention of the 'Spider Society'? Was it supposed to be some sort of fan club dedicated to her? Flattering, but strange.

But she couldn't shake off the memory of the dazzling burst of light she had seen on the news earlier. If this was all just some weirdo convention, what on earth was that light all about?

She stuck a web to her beam and leapt off, getting closer to the conflict to find out for herself.

"So is this some sort of cosplay event gone wrong?" She asked, hanging upside down from her web.

Chameleon tripped, surprised at her sudden appearance. However, in his moment of weakness, he was immediately pinned down by the blue bulky figure.

"Oh, great another Spiderman." The two of them said in unison.

"Spiderwoman actually." Lori corrected.

"Great, if you wouldn't mind spiderwoman, we're kind of in the middle of something here." the blue one said, his grip tightening around Chameleon's throat. With the aid of unfamiliar technology, his mask faded away, revealing his bronze-sculpted face and rugged brown locks. Lori couldn't help but momentarily lose her grip on her web as her gaze fixated on him. It was rare for her to blatantly gawk at someone, but his face had admittedly called for a special occasion. She watched intently as his mouth snapped open revealing sharp fangs, ready to pierce into his pinned-down victim. They looked far too real to be part of a cosplay...
