(PORCHAY'S POV)
"Have you heard?"
"Heard about what?"
"There will be a new professor for our literature and music class."
Voices started to fill the school corridors as the news about a new professor for the night class spread. For them, it was unusual actually because it is the last term of the semester. The former professor unusually felt sick and needed to get at least six months of rest and I was lucky enough to find this school to get a job.
It is a university nearby my place and it has many night class schedules; advantage for the likes of me who cannot get out of the day.
Why?
Well, that's because I'm a Vampire. And vampires cannot have contact with the sunlight or else I will turn into ashes. Hmm, except for my brother, that old man Kinn.
"I wish it be a handsome professor."
"Or a cute one."
"I don't care about the looks as long as I don't fail in the class."
I was walking in the corridor with no care about those eyes that are following me; with those whispers I could hear as clear as the day and with everything that exist around me. I am here for a mission and that's the only thing that mattered.
Then the bell rang and all of the students chatting in the corridor went inside of their classrooms. But it doesn't help at all; I could still hear them; buzzing like bees inside my ear.
"Excuse me! Coming through!"
I was about to open the door to the classroom for my first class when suddenly, someone raced into the door and loudly opened it. All of the students turned to look at us.
"Oi, Kimhan, you're late again!" one of the students complained to this person in front of me; holding the door knob while wearing a mischievous smile on his face.
"The new prof is not here yet, so technically, I am not late." He said with chin held high as if he is so proud of what he has done.
So, this person in front of me is called Kimhan. This person who is breathing so loud, obviously because he ran his way to the room, went to his assigned seat and settled himself comfortably. But what is that sweet smell? And why is it all over this room? Where is it coming from? And why does it smell so good? Like a freshly baked choco-chip cookies that came straight out of the oven.
"Excuse me? Are you in our class?"
I was on the verge of flipping this room upside down just to find that sweet and alluring smell when one of the students brought me back to reality. And it was a good thing.
"Nope. I am your new professor."
And the crowd went wild. No, not really but they are so noisy that it really rings both of my ears. Yeah, vampires hearing are hundred times clearer than of these human creatures in front of me.
"Quiet!"
They all went to silence. Yes, of course they will Porchay because they are afraid of you failing them in your subject.
"I am Porchay Theerapanyakun and I will be your Literature and Music Professor starting today."
(KIMHAN'S POV)
The new professor is seriously handsome. No. Handsome is an understatement; he is ethereal, seriously, like his face looks so angelic. Like he came down straight from heaven; like he was sent by the gods.
But there is something about him that feels a bit of unsettling. My instincts are telling me not to get near to him and it's so ironic; we were literally inches apart a while ago, in the classroom entrance. And to my surprise, there is no smell coming from him.
Danger.
The wolf inside of me suddenly felt a bit restless; like it was trying to warn me something will happen. But why? I am literally inside the classroom and the people around me will not and cannot hurt me. They won't be able to hurt me.
Stay still.
I said to my wolf, trying to calm him down because it won't be good if I will let him take over me and my emotions. It would be dangerous to the people around me. And I don't want that to happen.
Enemy. Near.
Is my wolf broken right now? How can there be an enemy here? Our pack already drove away every last bit of our enemy in the past decade. My brother made sure of it.
Enemy. Vampire. Near.
"So, listen, our topic for tonight is the Renaissance."
That's when I realized what my wolf was trying to tell me. I looked at our professor and his eyes; our new professor Porchay's eyes, they changed, under the ray of the moonlight.
His jet-black eyes turned gold and it met mine.
Vampire.
