Part 52
Another night passed peacefully, with neither of them was willing break into the other's personal space. They held an appropriate distance from one another and turned their backs on one another, each of them acknowledging the odd circumstances they found themselves in. They would alternate between the bed and the sofa for the next few nights in order to ensure that they both were having a chance to sleep there since neither of them wanted to make matters worse with one another sharing a bed.
The soothing sunlight that seeps through their creme-colored curtains into their bedroom in the mornings is what greets them. Arjun and Riya look at each other in understanding as they leave their temporary resting spots considering they are conscious that fate and their elders were what brought them together, even if it has done so in an odd way. Despite not sharing a bed, they took precautions to ensure that nobody but them picked up what had been going on in their room. They don't get themselves into any more struggles than they currently find themselves in as a result to their bed, the sofa in their room, and their unspoken comprehension of one another's emotions.
Which is why despite having mutually decided on to present themselves as a couple giving their impromptu union a chance in the hopes that this short-term act will console their families and buy them enough time to come to terms with their initial deceptions and objectives. The couple thought that everyone, including themselves, need some time to recuperate from all the pressure after the massive drama which took place in Rajasthan after the wedding ceremony. Riya has been doing her best to stay as level-headed and cooperative as she can, given the unanticipated wedding Arjun's moment of outrage has brought about for them. Or perhaps Riya has been making up for the years she misled her parents into thinking she was dead by trying to alleviate all of their fears towards herself.
After all, this is a harmless charade that would end as soon as Dadi Saa's health condition gets better. At least that's why they thought.
Despite their surroundings' belief, Ariya were very clear in their respective minds and made it crystal clear to each other that they have no intentions to continue this relationship formed with a base of anger. That they'll rather be colleagues rather than spouses.
Even though now they are both used to seeing each other's face before closing their eyes each night and opening their eyes greeting each other's morning face. They started off spending the nights lying in bed pretending to be asleep with their backs to one another because of the feelings of awkwardness, but over time they both loosened up and grew accustomed to each other's presence. They have also been able to come up with a routine that limits blunders and setbacks from taking place.
Riya, would stretch her arms and yawn, pretending to be caught in the throes of a blissful sleep. On the other side, Arjun, whose sleeplessness troubles still continue to exist, has been trying to keep up the false pretense by appearing to be a little moody in the morning when his wife would awaken. And lately, Riya has been finding it difficult to not succumb to her impulse to keep staring at Arjun's more appealing face every morning. After all, against her mind's best attempts to discourage her, she still carries those shut down the emotions buried within her heart.
