The five lions shot out of the castle charging into the oncoming battle with lasers firing. They had yet to come up with a strategy that would ensure the teams victory but Shiro had given vague guidance so they at least shouldn't crash into each other. Taking the lead the Black lion headed for one of the two mother ships, attempting to take out its ion canon. He had directed both Keith and Lance to tag team on the other mother ship to do the same thing, and then left Hunk and Pidge to take care of the many smaller drones trying to penetrate the Altean ship.

Everything had been running smoothly with most of them being destroyed withing one well aimed shot, for a sudden attack. If the team didn't know any better they would have thought all this was merely a distraction for something more sinister. But they don't have time to think about that and beside don't all good things come to an end anyway. For the paladins that came in the form of the Blue Lion spontaneously going erratic.

Keith's POV

Once Shiro had given us directions Lance and I made our way over to the second mother ship that was flying below the castle. Things were awfully quiet with Lance so I thought id take the lead with this one.

"How about you take the left side and I handle the right, if we take out the defences first, then getting to the ion canon should be easy" I waited fully expecting some form of cocky response or debate over who should lead to follow my words but all I got was a hum of agreement.

It was not like him to be this silent, maybe I had been too tough with him in training, I was his last opponent and he did already look so tired from going up against everyone else. Maybe that last blow with my sword was too much, I didn't really realise that I had done it, there was just the overwhelming sweat smell that flooded my senses. It was like nothing I had ever smelt before, a perfect mix of freshness with a calming undertone and I could have sworn that it was coming from Lance.

"Watch it, Keith!"

I was so in my own head that I hadn't seen Pidge flying towards me chasing one of the empire drones and I almost crashed into her. In the background of the comm system I could hear Allura sign with annoyance, I swear that woman has no faith in us sometimes. After shooting the last defence blaster on my side of the ship I make my way around to the front of the mothership lining Red up to the ion canon but still off to the side enough that if it did happen to fire I would be out of its path. Slowly pushing the leaver for my main blaster, I let it fully charge whilst waiting for Lance to meet me up front. This fight seems too easy, it slightly unnerves me, they are never this quick to defeat. Red lets out a little rumble to signal that she is ready to fire at a moment's notice, come on Lance we don't have all day.

Up ahead my eyes catch the Blue Lion and she is flying unsteady, her thrust power dropping in and out. What was going on? I know he's not the best pilot but this is just painful to watch, something has to be wrong.

Lance's POV

"hhmmm..."

This is not good; it has been so long I forgot how quickly a heat can set in. My head is foggy with an oncoming fever, coupled with a disgusting feeling of clammy hands and headache. I truly have not missed this feeling (even though it was only like two times). None of this would be so bad if I didn't have my inner Omega screaming at me to nest, well jokes on you omega I didn't make one. Don't get me wrong I wanted to, so badly, all week but I just couldn't risk the chance that someone on the team would walk into my room and see it, and its not like it could hurt not having a nest, right?

I had almost finished kicking Galra butt by destroying the defences, Blue was putting in her best efforts and we spun around making a bit of a show out of it. I mean if you are going to win a battle, why not do it in style. Presentation is everything after all. With one last blast from Blue there was just the ion canon left. We were doing so well, and I was determined to succeed for the team even with my oncoming heat when I felt an extreme wave of pleasure rush over me, causing me to lose control of my lion.

"Shit...haah..uhh" With ragged breath I curl in on myself, taking my hands off the controls and grab my shoulders. Nest~ nest now...NEST NEST!

A sweat forms all over my body and ever touch begins to feel just the bit more intense. Why now, why?

"LANCE. Get you head in the game; this is not a joke. You can't be messing around!" Allura's voice screeches through the comm system clearly pissed, and sure my spinning earlier didn't help my case, but this is different. I'm not screwing around right now, this shit hurts.

"Aahh! Fuck~" Again another burst of heat floods my body and I knock the controls sending Blue flying way off course spinning in rapid circles towards the other mother ship, straight into the Black Lion. When we collided, I was thrown out of my seat, over the control panels headfirst into the cockpit floor.

"Lance, pay attention! If you aren't careful you are going to cost the battle." Shiro had shouted out with a grunt.

I definitely sent him out of his seat too, but I could hardly make sense of what was being said, my head was pounding, I knew I fucked up but there was nothing I could do to fix it. It's as if there was a weight holding me down, if I tried to move it only hurt. Tears began to build in my eyes, why could I not hold it together for one battle, I messed up in front of everyone and failed my packs Alpha.

Third POV

Everyone started to shout concern in their headsets as they saw the ion canon on the remaining mother ship realign itself towards both still Lions. Seeing this, Shiro restarted Black and focused all thrusters downwards to get out of the firing path, but the Blue Lion made no attempt to do the same. There was not a sound coming from Lance over the comms and as if in slow motion they all watched helplessly as the ion canon fired, the destructive purple beam was sent directly into the back half of Blue.

All lights went off in the cockpit, the yellow eyes of the mechanical giant faded to nothing.

Yay another part done, I think this version definitely has a better fight scene the first time I wrote it.

Hope you liked it
