June 6th

My loud alarm rang as I woke up slowly. I rubbed my eyes and turned it off. I rolled over "Wake up sunshine time for daycare," I said as I shook my daughter. "Good morning," Amber said quietly. I slowly sat up on my bed and walked to the dresser.

After I got ready, I made two bowls of cereal. Amber walked into the kitchen. "Here you go!" I said as I gave her the bowl.

We arrived at daycare and we walked inside. I went to the front desk. "Sign in please," The lady said. I nodded and signed Amber in. I got one knee "Have a good day" I told her. "You too" Amber hugged me. The lady took her to her classroom and I went to my car.

I walked up my apartment steps and saw Eliza. "Hey, girl! How's your new life so far?" Eliza asked. I laughed "It's definitely going" I joked. She glanced over "You wanna come in and talk about it?" she offered. I thought about it for a second "Sure why not" I shrugged my shoulders.

We went in and her apartment was smokey. "Sorry I was doing...nevermind" She said as she sprayed her apartment. I knew what she was doing. "It's okay" I chuckled. We sat on her couch "So why'd you move in anyways?" Eliza asked as she peeled an orange. I sighed "I needed a new start and back home I was living in a hotel" I told her. She glanced at me "Sorry to hear" she spoke. I started to feel embarrassed "It's okay" I looked down. "If you need a job I can help you" She said as she ate. My mood lit up "Really? Where?" I asked. "You might not like it" She looked at me.

10 minutes later we arrived at the club. "A bartender? I'm only 20" I looked at her. "I-I" She looked at me "Not what I had in mind but sure". I looked out the window "If what you had in mind was a stripper I'll try" I nervously laughed. Deep down, I really didn't wanna try. I just knew it paid well and I had my daughter to think about. "Good because that's what I was thinking" She said as she unbuckled her seatbelt and we went in.

"Alaska this is my cousin, zay" She introduced me. I shook his hand "Nice to meet you" I smiled. "Pleasure's all mine" He smiled back, looking me up and down "Let's go into my office and talk"

"So looking for a job?" He asked as he sat down. "Yep" I smiled. He bit his lip and looked at me "Usually I don't do this but you look like you can dance...can you start working tomorrow night?" He asked. "Tomorrow? Sure" I said.

"Girl I told you I can get you a job!" Eliza laughed as she pulled off. "Thank you so much" I said, smiling. She looked over for a second "All I did was drop you off — you earned it" she smiled back. "I doubt my personality had anything to do with the job, but thanks" I looked out the window.

We arrived home and I knew I had to get Amber by now. "Thanks again I have to pick up my daughter but I'll see you later" I said as I unbuckled my seatbelt. She stopped me "Wait I can take you if you want" Eliza offered. "Sure" I replied.

"Mommy!" Amber said as she ran to me. "Hey, my sweet baby girl!" I held her tightly. Amber looked back at Eliza's car "Who's that?" she asked. "Our new friend" I told her as we walked back. I put Amber in the backseat. Eliza looked back at us  "No car seat Mama, Buckle tight" she joked. Amber laughed at her comment "I'm a big girl I don't need one" She smiled. I got in the front seat and we rode home.

After we said goodbye to Eliza, we went into our apartment. "Do you want a yummy surprise?" I asked Amber. "Depends" Amber responded with a sly smirk "What is it?" She asked. I looked at her "Give me 30 minutes".

"PIZZA!" Amber shouted in excitement. I placed the pizza box on the counter "Shit we still need furniture" I whispered to myself. "Mommy, how long are we gonna be sharing a ballon bed?" Amber asked as she grabbed a slice of pizza. I looked at her "A ballon bed?" I chuckled. She nodded "Yea I thought I was getting my very own room" she said with her mouth filled. "I have to order furniture. But I don't have a lot of money and we need to eat before getting a lot the things" I told her. She frowned slightly "When will we get money?" She questioned. "I start working tomorrow actually! Meaning after daycare someone else will pick you up" I explained. "Our née friend?" Amber asked. "Let's ask questions later...bath time" I picked her up.

Whenever I put Amber down for bed, I went outside for a smoke. Which is weird because I usually don't smoke. I looked over my shoulder and saw a group of boys. I looked a little closer and saw Miles. He looked back at me and we made eye contact for a second. I looked back down at my cigarette, smiling. I saw him walk over to me "We talk one day and I never see you again?" Miles asked sarcastically. I looked at him "I'm a closed person" I chuckled softly. "Well if you wanna be more open, you have my number" He smirked. "Actually I have your address too" I joked. He walked off and still made eye contact with me.

I finished my smoke and went upstairs "Never again" I said quietly to myself as I threw out my cigarettes. I only smoked because my mom used to do it whenever we became to much. Unfortunately, it only works for some people. I got my phone out of my pocket and started texting my dad.

ALASKA: Hey Dad can you watch Amber? I have a job tomorrow night at 7
DAD: Can you drop her off? If so I would be happy to watch my granddaughter
ALASKA: I can! Thank you Dad I love you
DAD: No problem.

I got ready for bed and lay next to Amber. I kissed her forehead and cuddled her to bed.
