"youre just trying to be like everyone else"

sure, i guess youre right
i love being like everyone else
i love wearing long sleeves,
everyday,
in the smoldering heat
the scraggly edges of my sweater pulling at my open wounds like
velcro.
i am different,
so different that people know who i am because i am
different.

i am
half white, half black,
curly frizzy short hair,
overweight,
scar-covered,
pansexual
suicidal girl.

who else is like me?
my fingertips covered swirls and mountains of my own
signature.

each bump and scar and bruise
my own
each stretch mark and birthmark
mine

they say there are seven people in this world
that look like you
but in this fucked up world, who
is like you,
but you?

you are different
and this us not to be frowned upon
yet to me,
its awful
