I quickly throw fireballs at the four phantoms holding down Amber and Declan. The room erupts in light as the Things fall back, shading their eyes from the bright light. My buddy in front of me looks angry. He flings his head back and spits out a green blob at me. What on Earth?

I duck and the blob lands on the wall behind me. Immediately the wall turns a blackish colour, where the black is, it starts to crumble. Soon there is a hole about the size of a small mushroom where the blob had hit it.

From there, things go crazy. Ambers computer starts beeping like crazy. The words 'program complete' flash across the screen. Declan starts chucking laps around the room, punching the Things as he goes past. Amber dives for her Laptop, typing furiously to get the info that we need.

I on the other hand am left to deal my now fuming buddy who I think is their leader, while protecting Amber and myself from some of the other grey phantoms that were along the wall before. I throw fire balls in every direction while dodging any of those approaching spitballs.

The leader runs at me with so much force that I get knocked off my feet and go flying back into the panel full of wires and buttons. Declan stops running around in front of the leader of the grey phantom things which is pinning me down with the same steel force. Declan does some powerful kicks at it which does nothing. I heat up my skin to hotter than a summer bush fire.

The phantom only seems to get angrier at this. He stops pinning me down for a fraction of a second, turns around and spits the same green blobby stuff straight at Declans leg. Declan Screems out in pain before collapsing to the ground.

"Declan!!" Amber has the information and was in a punch up with a phantom when Declan fell. The phantom that she was fighting off uses this opportunity put its freezing cold hands on her arms, pinning her down so she can't move.

I let out a burst of flame, like a mini flame thrower at the phantom while making my way over to Declan. The leader side steps me, it puts its cold hand like things over mine, putting out my fire. I can't stand the cold, but the leader is at least three times colder than the others that were pinning me down before.

Amber manages to shift into her tiny chickadee. It flys up, strategically pecking at the leaders hands in an attempt to let go of me. An invisible one of those things fade back to its normal colour behind Amber. Amber notices too late though, it shoots out its hand and captures Amber.

We're all disabled. We can't do anything except wait for their next move. The leader makes a victories screeching noise. No need to show off. "You are children trying to be something you never will be." It says. I cringe from the ear piercing noise. The leader thinks the cringe is me being afraid of it and starts to cackle away like a dying penguin that just sucked in helium.

It opens its mouth to speak again but a sudden bright light cuts it off. We all shut out eyes tightly. This light, brighter than the sun, makes the grey phantoms to make another ear piercing screech and fall back, releasing Declan, Amber and I.

I can hear Amber changing back to her normal self, her bird eyes not being able to take the light. Declan tries to roll into a ball but his leg looks kind of like the wall. He can't move it.

The light lasts for a couple more seconds before eventually fading out. We all keep our eyes closed for a couple more seconds. When I finally do open them I gasp in shock. "Amber? Declan?" I quietly ask them.

Amber who is next to me slowly opens her eyes. She sits up and looks around. Declan follows suit and we all look around. We are no longer in the bunker. Instead we are in fresh green grass. The sun sinks on the horizon above the endless blue sea. A giant mansion is the only building in site. Finally my eyes rest on a man in his late fifties, early sixties.

"Different from the bunker isn't it?" The man sits down on a bench near us.

"Where are we?" Amber cautiously asks him.

"An uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. I like to call it Vertango." The man looks out across the ocean. The Palm trees surrounding us rustle in the wind.

"How did we get here?" I motion with my hands to the island I am sitting on.

The old man smiles and holds up his walking stick. "This is a telepick. Only people with a certain type of rare blood type can use these. So happens that there are only six left in this era. But with them you can teleport anyone or anything to where ever you want. You guys looked like you could use a bit of help. Besides Hogmers are evil creatures that I've been at war with for a while."

"Hogmers?" Declan wheezes out. It seems that his leg is really painful and we've all kind of forgotten about.

The man looks at Declans leg. He shakes his head and sighs. "Oh dear. You've been hit."

"You think?" Declan prods at it trying to get the blackness off it. When he realises that it's bleeding pretty badly, any calmness he once had quickly disappears. "Wait you can fix it can't you? Can't you?!" He frantically looks at the man with wide eyes.

The man looks at Declan with surprise. Obviously not expecting a nineteen year old man to have such an unmanly freak out. "Close your eyes." He simply says. He squeezes his walking stick, or should I say his telepick. The same bright light covers us.

It doesn't last as long this time. When I open my eyes we are in a room that looks a lot like a hospital. From the view out of the window, we are in the mansion that I saw before.

Declan is on one of the beds. A young girl comes in and starts fixing up Declans leg. "So what is this Hogmer that you mentioned before?" I sit on on one of the chairs, patiently waiting an answer from the man.

"Hogmers are those grey things that you were fighting." The man looks surprised that we don't know what a Hogmer is.

"I hate to be the party pooper 'ere. But who are you? Why should we believe ya?" Amber crosses her arms across her chest.

"Sorry. Where are my manners." The man lets out a croaky laugh. "I am Gareth. I can't tell you why you should trust me exactly but I do believe that we are on the same side. Now that I have introduced myself. Who are you?"

"Well Gareth, I am Mckayla Holbrook, this is Amber Kessler and the guy on the bed is Declan Higgins. We're from the homestead." I know that Gareth knows about the homestead because he has a telepick. To have that and knowledge about Hogmers, he must have heard about the homestead at some point in time.

Gareth nods his head, getting used to the thought of our names and where we are from. "Do ya have our equipment?" Amber seems satisfied with Gareths answer, she's relaxed near him.

"Right, your equipment." Gareth thinks about it for a moment, "yes I got that. It's in storage room nine."

"Great. So what do we do now?" Declan hobbles over to us.

I think about it, "to be honest with you guys, I have no idea what so ever."

Gareth looks at us all, "If I might be so bold to interfere with your plans. I think I might know."
