3th POV - December 7th, 1986
Christmas music was playing softly as Eddie and Steve were putting the tree up as Wayne fought with the lights
"The lights are super colorful."
"What did your trees look like?" Wayne asked Steve laughed
"White lights, big tree.. I've never actually decorated a tree before.. my Mom always paid someone to do it." Steve said
"That sounds depressing as shit." Eddie said "this is like the best part of Christmas," Eddie said putting the top of the tree on "we've had the same fake tree since I was, like, 12 and we have really colorful lights and everyone has their own ornament." Eddie said
"That sounds way better." Steve said Eddie laughed softly
"Wayne and I have our own special ornaments and my friends all do and look," Eddie said grabbing a new one from the table by the couch "you have your own now too." Steve smiled softly at the yellow ornament that said 'Stevie Harrington' on it with a yellow heart by it and had some flowers painted on it
"Thanks Eds."
"Yeah Stevie." Eddie smiled softly "got any lights ready Wayne?" Eddie asked
"Yup."
Eddie grabbed it
"Here Steve, all you." Eddie said holding the lights but handed the other end to Steve
"Why does this end go first?"
"Cause it's the female end." Eddie said
"The.. female end?"
"It's the part you plug into." Wayne said Steve nodded softly
"Okay.." Steve said Eddie laughed softly
Steve started wrapping it around the tree
Eddie followed him with the big roll of it
"Here's the rest of the lights, I'm gonna go start dinner." Wayne said setting the other backup roll down and getting up to go to the kitchen
"See look," Eddie said "you're a natural Stevie."
"Thanks Eds." Steve said laughing softly Eddie smiled watching him
After they put the lights and garland on it then the ornaments
"You can put on the last one." Eddie said Steve smiled putting his own ornament on it "perfect."
"It looks awesome." Steve said being completely amazed by it Eddie smiled softly
Wayne walked in
"Wow boys it looks good." he said Eddie smiled and nodded
"I know." Eddie said Steve smiled softly
"Dinner is down kids come on."
Eddie took Steve's hand pulling him to the kitchen
They each got a plate
Then all sat together
They all started eating
"So, Wayne, what did you get me?" Eddie asked Wayne rolled his eyes
"You'll see." Wayne said
-Christmas Morning
Steve was drinking hot chocolate as they opened presents
Eddie was opening a box from Wayne
"Thanks Wayne." Eddie said looking at the new cassette player and new guitar strap
"I knew your old cassette and guitar strap were getting pretty worn out." Wayne said Eddie smiled softly looking at the simple design on the guitar strap
The inside had a white patch that had Wayne's handwriting on it
'I'm so proud of you'
Eddie smiled hugging him tightly Wayne smiled softly hugging back
They pulled away
"Thanks Wayne.."
Eddie handed him a box
Wayne smiled softly opening it
A new hat and a hand painted cup
It had a whole landscape painting on it with a sunset and trees
"You need to stop getting cups.. I'm running out of ideas here." Eddie said Wayne smiled again hugging him
"Thanks boy." Wayne said messing with his hair Eddie laughed softly
"And Steve's." Eddie said handing him a box
Steve smiled softly opening it
A new mixtape Eddie had made titled "S.H. mixtape 86'"
And a written note
It was a poem
"Thanks Eds.." Steve said with a smile
Wayne handed Steve a small box
"You didn't have to give me anything.. giving a good Christmas for the first time in a long time is enough.."
"Just open it kid." Wayne said Steve laughed softly opening it
It was a small picture in a frame
Eddie and Steve
A picture Wayne had taken when they had fallen asleep on the small couch one night and Wayne found them in the morning
And a small note
Steve smiled looking at it
'Thank you for taking care of my boy
Remember you're part of this family now
Merry Christmas Steve
I'm happy to have more Christmases with you here too
- Wayne'
"Thanks Wayne." Steve said with a smile hugging him
Wayne hugged back
Steve pulled away and grabbed a small box handing it to Wayne who looked slightly surprised to get anything
"You're gonna like it." Eddie said Wayne laughed softly
"Shut up Eds don't spoil it." Steve said Eddie laughed
Wayne opened it
Two baseball tickets
"April 27th." Steve said Wayne smiled
"Hell yeah." Wayne said Steve smiled Eddie laughed softly
"You two have fun, I'm not going anywhere near sports." Eddie said Wayne and Steve laughed softly
The rest of the day Eddie kept messing with his guitar as Wayne and Steve talked about sports
"I don't know if you took my boyfriend, or if you took my uncle." Eddie said looking up at them
"Shut up." Steve said leaning down to kiss Eddie's head
Eddie smiled softly and went back to his guitar
Eddie started playing White Christmas softly on his acoustic guitar
They all started singing together slightly
