"Flashback fic. Luke and Ashton are now married and looking back on their first kiss"
-----
"Can you tell the story again, Daddy?" Luke's five-year old-daughter, Erica, asked. Luke always- instead of reading her bed time stories- told her about the time Ashton and he were dating before they got married. H er favorite was their first date.
"Sure sweetheart, it all started a long time ago... a weekend, I think it was in May," Luke started.
*Flashback...*
Luke was extremely nervous. 'Why did he ever let Calum set him up on a blind date?' he thought to himself as he drove to the address Calum wrote down for him. Under the address was just a name... Ashton? He pulled up to this nice little cream colored two story house. Luke waited a minute, trying to gather his thoughts. He got out and walked up the cobble stone pathway to the mahogany door. He knocked and waited a minute or two. When there was no answer he started freaking out. He turned around and began slightly pacing nervously. When Luke heard the door open he whipped around so fast he almost gave himself whiplash. His eyes caught a glimpse of a slightly curly haired blond boy. He was a little shorter than Luke but keep in mind - Luke was like 7 feet tall, so like everyone's shorter than him. Ashton was wearing a white button up, black skinny jeans and what looked like hipster glasses. Luke thought he was absolutely stunning.
"Hi I'm Ash, you must be Luke," Ashton chuckled at Luke's dumfounded face. Luke needed to remind himself to thank Calum later. He just realized that he hasn't responded yet. Shit.
"Hi, um... yeah." Luke awkwardly said while looking down at his hands. "So do you want to go and get this date started?" he continued while looking up only to see Ashton nod with his bashful smile. Luke took a leap of faith and grabbed the other boy's hand who - to Luke's surprise - didn't pull away which was a good sign. They walked to Luke's old pick-up truck. It was a hand-me-down from his older brother and he loved it, even if it broke down almost every other week. The drive to the restaurant was pretty fun. Ashton found Luke's Cd collection and they got into a heated discussion on which Green Day song was better; Basket Case or She's a Rebel. Luke drove them to this little Italian restaurant, it had amazing food and a magical atmosphere. It was perfect for a first date. When they arrived they were seated out on the back deck in the warm August air. Their table was by the railing of the deck and wrapped in fairy lights. It looked over this little lake in a field that turned into woods.
"This is really nice, Luke. Thanks for taking me here," Ashton blushed and Luke thought it the cutest thing ever. His mind was racing with thoughts of love and adoration for the shorter lad, which was crazy because he had only known him for the last 45 minutes.
"The food here is amazing and I know the manager so that's how we got this table." Ashton just smiled at this. They spent the rest of the night talking, laughing, and even though neither one would admit it, falling a little bit for each other. When they finished their food they heard the live band start playing 'Cold Coffee' by Ed Sheeran.
"Would you like to dance?" Luke asked Ashton.
"Sure!" Ashton smiled. He wanted to dance all night but was waiting for Luke to ask. They stood up and walked to the clear space by the railing. Luke placed his hands on Ashton's waist and Ashton wrapped his hands around Luke's neck, they started swaying to the music.
"I really had fun tonight, Luke. I think this is the best date I've ever been on," Ashton admitted.
"I really like you and I don't know if you feel the same way but I'm still telling you this in case you do. I would love to go out again but if you don't-" Luke was cut off by Ashton's lips on his. All of his worries melted away into that kiss. When they both pulled away they just couldn't help but smile at each other.
*end of flashback...*
"That's my favorite story." Erica gushed.
"It's mine too, Love Bug," Ashton told her from the door way where he was leaning. Luke didn't even realize Ashton walked in while he was telling the story. He walked up and wrapped his hands loosely around Luke's neck from behind the chair he was sitting in.
"Okay it's bed time, time to turn off the lights." Luke told her little angel as he got up to turn off the light and grabbed Ashton's hand to lead him out.
"You do know that that was one of the best days of my life." Ashton told him as they both went to lay down later.
"Mine too." Luke said as he put his hands around Ashton's waist and snuggled up to his husband of seven years. "Mine too."
