I made it back home walking pass the front door and heading to the backyard, it's what I did when I was younger. Only this time when I tugged on the wooden door... Its locked.
(Y/n)-"What the...." I pulled once more and it wouldn't budge. I walk back to the front knocking on the screen door for my parents to let me in. Dad walks over to unlock the door.
(Y/n)-"Since when is the back yard door gate locked?"
(Dad)-"There's been reports of strange people just wandering into peoples backyards, assaulting them. Didn't want to take a chance with ours." Oh jeez.
(Y/n)-"Scary." That's good to know when I'm going to be staying here by myself. No big deal. I shut the door behind me making sure it was firmly closed.
(Mom)-"You all all packed for our trip?" She asks Dad as she walks into the living room.
(Dad)-" Yes, my love. Everything is all set."
(Mom)-"We'll be leaving first thing tomorrow morning." She turns to me letting me the plan.
(Y/n)-"Okay, cool."
(Mom)-"How was town?"
(Y/n)-"Really... Weird. I ran into Woody. You remember him?" She puts her hands on her hips at the mention of him.
(Mom)-"Yes." She does not like him. The many times I came crying to her when he made fun of me, hurt my feelings, my mom was there to make me feel better.
(Y/n)-"We just talked. He has a kid now."
(Mom)-"Well good for him." She drops her arms and loosens up. Dad chuckles under his breath and walks into the kitchen.
(Y/n)-"How long am I going to be watching the place?"
(Mom)-"Why? Thinking of inviting some of your old friends, thinking about where you're gonna put the keg for the welcoming rager party?" Her brow raises and a half grin. It's funny to think the majority of my old friends moved out of here once they graduated high school, I lost contact with them.
(Y/n)-"You know me so well." I say with sarcasm. I hate parties and I hate social events. If the party takes place outdoors, count me out. If the party takes place inside, count me out. if there's food involved, count me in and then count me out. Well, depending what kind of food is being served.
(Y/n)-"I'm just gonna be inside while you guys are gone." I shrug honestly.
(Mom)-"As much as any parent would love that answer, you should get out more. Don't be stuck inside and become so anti social."
(Y/n)-"The thought of going outside and hanging with people scares me." Dad laughs from the kitchen.
(Mom)-"How are you my child?" She giggles and goes into the kitchen. I set my board leaning against the wall near the door and follow her to the next room. Dad was getting lunch ready.
My Dad was always the cook, Mom was never really good at it. She's good with mechanics such as working on cars, bikes, etc. Mom owns a mechanic shop, My parents own it but mainly it's my Mom's.
I sat on a stool near the counter resting my elbow on the Solid pink countertop. The kitchen hasn't changed much since I moved out, the countertops are still an outdated laminate design, the tile floor was black and white checkered pattern that my mom refuses to get rid of. Dad hates the pink and white cabinets but it makes mom happy that the kitchen looks like a fifties diner.
I place my chin on the palm of my hand zoning out watching my parents do what they do best.... being my Mom and Dad.
