Wait- Which James?

    When Tony Stark walked in to the avengers compound living room that morning, the last thing anyone was expecting, was for him to say, "I'm dating James". However, no one thought to ask for any clarification as Tony wasn't one to let others indulge in his personal life and him letting the team know in the first place was something to be amazed by. They had also known Tony wasn't only attracted to women when they had a team bonding night a few weeks prior, although he did say he wasn't quite sure what he was at the times and didn't want to go putting any labels on himself yet. So they weren't surprised  by the idea of Tony dating a man.

    And so as the days went on some people, Clint, Natasha, and Steve had come to think that Tony meant he was dating James as in James 'Rhodey' Rhodes. They have seen them talking quite a lot and figured that due to their close relationship in the past, it made sense for them to be each other's boyfriend. They also know previously to the sudden declaration, how close Tony and the colonel were, as they had known each other forever. They knew how Rhodey was always there for Tony in college and when he first became the Iron man. He was there when Tony and pepper had broken off their long-term semi-toxic relationship. It made complete sense that once Tony had come to an understanding with his sexuality the first person he would go to would be someone he trusted and who was by his side for each struggle in his life. Not only did they see Rhodey there for Tony but the relationship worked both ways, Tony was their to make sure Rhodey got the absolute best treatment after Vision had accidentally shot him down during what the press called "The Civil War". Clint and Steve seemed to be pretty positive that the relationship between the two was not something recent due to that fact, but Natasha being one of Tony's closest friends on the team was sure that if Rhodey and Tony were dating previously she would have picked up on it. Either way they all thought that Tony was indeed dating the hero known as War Machine.

    While others, namely, Wanda, Vision, Loki and Thor believed Tony was dating James 'Bucky' Barnes. They all thought this made sense due to the sexual tension between the two that had only seem to build since the renewing of the accords and rejoining of the rouges. When the team was able to finally come back to together it seemed the two once enemies, became really close. Loki being surprisingly another one of Tony's closest friends on the team thought it was almost poetic that Tony would fall in love with the captains best friend, seeing as everything that happened with the accords could have been avoided if the man had just sat down and talked it out instead of running. He also knew how Tony felt about the whole Bucky killing his parents situation, he knew Bucky was being controlled but that didn't change the fact it hurt, perhaps if it was just Howard who died he might have actually thanked Bucky but his mother was also in that car, and Tony couldn't just forget that. But as much as that hurt, he was not mad at Bucky, no he was mad at the captain, for keeping his parents death and Bucky a secret, if Steve would have just been honest and upfront with him from the beginning then maybe they could have worked something out. But now after all the fighting and resolving here Tony was, fucking the Captains best friend. Yeah, that definitely made Loki laugh.

    No one really talked about it in fear of getting cussed out by the one and only billionaire for snooping, but there seemed to be a mutual agreement that the relationship was good for Tony because he seemed to be happier. Tony would talk to Natasha or Loki about how great his pervious date was, or how he slept like a baby after some 'fun' time with James the previous night. The team also noticed that Tony was around a lot less since he announced his new relationship but they didn't mind at all honestly, because that meant that Tony wasn't always alone working down in the lab and was actually taking care of himself. And things continued this way for almost another 4 weeks before chaos broke out in the middle of team dinner.

    Peter had just walked into the compound for team dinner when he heard shouting coming from the dinning room. He knew about Tony's relationship before everyone else on the team and was actually the one to convince Tony to tell the team so no one would walk in on the three making out like he had sadly done. He didnt mind his father figures relationship, but he did threaten both James that he would hunt them down if they broke Mr.Starks heart. That was probably the scariest moment of both men's life, meanwhile Tony was laughing his ass off. Who knew the little spiderling could be so protective of his dad.

    "What are you serious! There is no way!" Steve shouted.
    "Uh of course he's with Bucky? What do you mean! Are you really that dense that you can't see your 'Best Friend' is in love with someone?" Loki shouted back.
    "Bucky had never once mentioned a relationship with Tony. And he has never even told me he was slightly attracted to men, trust me if they were dating I would know." Steve said firmly, looking away in anger.
    "Well apparently you don't know him as well as you think then" Wandas mumbled under her breath.
    "Really Wanda? You too? How could you think Tony was dating Bucky of all people!" Clint said seeming extremely confused on how that would even be plausible.
    "Well who do you think is dating the man of iron?" Thor interjected.
    "Colonel Rhodes, of course." Steve said answering for Clint.
    "Oh please! As if! You think they would barely start dating after all this years, they are just good friends." Wands says in a mocking tone.

That's when Peter walked in, he was confused by the conversations, didn't Tony say he told the team who he was dating? Why were they arguing about Rhodey and Bucky?

    "Uh guys?" Peter said finally walking into the room. "What are you all arguing about?"
    "Well Mrs.Natasha, Bird-man, and Captain Oblivious here think that your father is dating the Colonel. While Thor, Wanda, Vision, and I can obviously see that he is dating Bucky." Loki said in a matter of fact tone.
    "Well one, again Mr.Stark isn't my father" Peter said earning and eyeroll from everyone in the room. "And two, didn't he tell you who he was dating?"
    "Sir Stark did somewhat tell us who he was dating but not fully if that's comprehensible" Vision said in a steady automated voice.
    "Well, what did he say?" Peter asked confused.
    "I'm dating James" is what he got in return from the table of avengers and he finally understood.
    "Ohhh, haha yeah okay that makes sense now." Peter said trying to stifle his laughter.

    And that is when the three men walked in, looking a bit ruffed up but still decent enough to not bring to much attention to it.

    "Tony!" Is what left the hordes mouth as Natasha and Loki ran up to him.
    "Who are you dating!" They said simultaneously, giving each other a dirty look after.
    "Uh James? I told you all this." tony said giving the group a questioning look.
    "Yes man of iron, but which one is the question." Thor said in his booming voice.
    "Oh Both." Tony said happily as he walked to his seat and started to serve himself food, Rhodey and Bucky following close behind.

    The silence was too funny for peter too hold in his laughter anymore and he ended up breaking out into tears. The rest of the group just stared at the three men in awe while they figured it out in their heads, not only did it makes sense but it was so obvious how could they all miss it. The trio walks and nights out, they were always out together and no one even questioned it. They didn't shake their shock for another 10 minutes, when tony called them over to watch a movie, the man sitting right in between both James.
