Tony x Rhodey Oneshots

Are we wrong?

Background Info:
Tony and Rhodey are dating
No civil war + after Spiderman homecoming
Tony figures out Peter is Spiderman but that he is also super smart and recruits him as his sidekick/intern (Irondad and Spiderson-ish)

From what Tony could remember, it had been a relatively calm sunday morning when it all began. Rhodey was in the comman area kitchen making breakfast for Tony and himself since the rest of the avengers were out on a simple mission. Tony was just waking up, then he got an alert from Friday.

Friday: Boss, it seems that "underoos" has entered the lobby, he is requesting to come up, shall i allow it?
Tony: Yes Fri, go ahead. Just tell Rhodey he's coming
Friday: Will do, sending "underoos" to 65th floor, Common Area and alerting "platypus"

With that, Tony had simply gotten up and started his morning routine as it seemed fine to let Rhodey welcome the kid. When Tony finally walked into the kitchen 10 minutes later he was welcomed with a soft kiss on the head from Rhodey and a "Hey Mr.Stark" from Peter.

Tony: Sup kid, what got you coming around at...(he checked the clock)...9am
Peter: oh nothing much, Aunt May went out of town with some friends to go shopping for the day and I figured we could keep working on those upgrades to Wally 2.0
That's when Rhodey but in
Rhodey: Who or what is Wally 2.0?
Peter: Oh! Wally 2.0 is a little robot Mr.Stark and I have been working on on the side to clean up around the lab when we dont really want to or forget too
Rhodey: Oh thank god, finally. Every time I walk in there its a mess of random parts and tools everywhere (He said flipping a pancake)
Tony: Thanksss hun, so great to see you dissing my workspace
Rhodey: just because its a lab doesn't mean things should be thrown everywhere, even if its just 10 billion different projects (He said laughing a bit)
At that peter giggles too
Peter: He does kinda have a point Mr.Stark
Tony: Oh dont you start too kid, half of that mess if your you know
Peter: fine fine, I guess we better finish Wally soon then huh (He said going onto his phone)
Tony: hmm yeah
Rhodey handed him a plate, it was filled with ; 2 eggs, 2 slices of bacon, 2 pancakes (with butter) and a syrup packet on the side
Tony: thank hun
Rhodey: mm your welcome, pete you hungry?
Peter: hm? (He said looking up) oh uh yes, can i get eggs and pancakes only though please
Rhodey: sure kid
Rhodey handed Peter the plate and went to serve himself, Peter began to eat while looking back at his phone. He made a little "hmph" noise and looked back up.
Peter: Did you know that studies show that when alone with a person of the same sex and you out eating the waiter will subconsciously place the check in front of the person who they think is "the man of the relationship" aka the top?
Tony: oh- uh no i didnt know that, that's strangled
Peter: yep (he said popping the P) ... aww man that means when i go out with Ned they think he's the top! (He said with a pout) They always place the check in front of him.
Rhodey: i dont know guys i think its just chance but i gues haha
Tony : mm, anyways since your done Peter, do you wanna start heading down to the lab, Ill meet you there just let me change
Peter: oh- okay Mr.Stark, oh what about my dishes
Rhodey: Don't worry i got it Peter, just head on down
Peter: Oh! Okay!,  Thanks Mr.Rhodes also those pancakes were really good
Rhodey: no problem kid, and thanks

And that had been the end of it, or so Tony thought. It wasn't until three day later when Rhodey had brought it up. They had gone out for lunch prior to picking Peter up from school and when Tony had asked for the check. However when the waitress came back she placed it in front of Rhodey. That got tony actually thinking, why would she place it in front of Rhodey? I mean, he wasn't even disguised and he is known pretty darn well as being rich so why not give the check to him? It couldn't have been because Rhodey was closer either because she approached and left on Tony's side of the table. So if he requested the check, its known he rich, and it didn't really convince her to give the check to Rhodey, why did she? Rhodey must have seen the calculating look on Tony face and decided to make a joke of it.

Rhodey: Hah I guess she decided I'm top huh?
Tony: huh, yeah i uh, i guess so

It wasn't much, and it wasn't really significant since they continued on and Tony paid and they went to pick up Peter. But he couldn't help but keep returning to what Peter had said, and he started to pick up on the little things. Whether it was when they went to dinner and they placed the check in front of Rhodey not Tony, or when at the grocery store and the cashier asked "cash or card" and directed the question to Rhodey, no matter what 9 times out of 10, they asked Rhodey for payment and that didnt sit right with Tony. So, one day when everyone was in the common room (except for peter cause he was not about to scar the kid...more than he already is) he asked his friends.

Tony: Who do you guys think is top? Me or Rhodey?

The room was silent, you could see Rhodey was flushed a light shade of pink and he was not expecting that to pop up out of no where. Everyone in the room looked around and they seemed to come a consensus on what to answer. Still no one spoke up.

Tony: Well?
Natasha: um Rhodey
Steve: well i guess Rhodey
Clint: defienetly Rhodey
Wanda: yep def Rhodey
Thor: your boyfriend, Colonel Rhodes
Bruce: well tony, i think maybe you? (He seemed very Unser of his answer)
Natasha: oh c'mon bruce, your just saying that cause you feel bad for him!
Tony: seriously Brucie-bear? I though i could trust you.
Bruce: ah fine well yeah Rhodey

That's when tony looked at Rhodey, as if expecting an answer

Rhodey: What? What do you want me too do, i know the answer
Tony: uhhh this is not fair.
Rhodey: Tones, where is this coming from?
Tony:Remember what the kid said last Sunday?
Rhodey: uhhh about Wally?
Tony: no! The other thing! You know, about waiters and tops and stuff
Rhodey: oh that? Yeah i remember why?
Tony: because! When we go out i started to notice that you always get handed the check and i never do. And well i wanted to know if that what people really thought. (He said, slightly pouting)
Natasha: wellll are we wrong?

Tony and Rhodey both stayed silent...

Tony: no.... But still! I could be top!
Clint: hah! As if, we all know you wouldn't
Tony: still not fair.
