At 9:00 p.m., the night was chilly from the light shower of rain. There were splashes of water here and there as cars and buses zoomed across the street of Lekki. Aside from the splashes of water; it was the usual quiet night.

After the long traffic, a man in a sleek black Honda increased the volume of his car radio. A Nigerian hip-hop song; ‘Unavailable’ by Davido boomed in the car. A golden ornament hung and swung from his rearview mirror as he sped down the empty road.

He peeled off the first three buttons of his white long-sleeved shirt, revealing his well-defined chest. His shirt held tags that showed he was a high-ranked pilot.

Kelvin turned off the air conditioner and wound down his tinted window to let in the crisp night air. His fine dark eyes closed for a second as the petrichor embraced him into sudden ecstasy. Indicating it was the first rainfall after the dry season.

‘Grin-Grin....’ Kevin's phone rang.

In a blink, the ringing went off. Kelvin glanced at his phone to identify the caller ID as Angel. A half-smirk formed on his lips. His girlfriend, Angela Ifeayin, was on the phone. He turned off his headlight seeing as the road was wide and empty.

Grin-Grin....’

It rang again.

Clutching the steering wheel with his left hand, he picked up his phone with his right but before he could answer the call; it stopped ringing. So he settled for a message on WhatsApp instead of calling back. Telling her he was sorry he missed her call.

Angel: It’s been an hour since I left the kitchen. I cooked your favorite; Rice and fish stew. Where are you?

Kelvin: I’m close baby, I’m in Gbadebo Street. The traffic held me up.

Angel: Can’t wait to see you. I have a surprise waiting for you.

Kelvin: Ooooh. What surprise is that?

Angel: It wouldn’t be a surprise anymore if I told you, now would it? 🙄

Kelvin chuckled and shook his head at her sassy reply. His phone lightened up again.

Angel: Just get home already, if you wanna know😏

Kelvin clicked on the video call button and listened as it rang before he answered it on the third ring.

“Hey, baby.” He smiled at the camera as Angela appeared on his screen.

She wore a red velvet silk dress. Her delicate features were accentuated by her minimal makeup. Her fair, smooth skin and her thick black wig fell around her shoulders in waves, making her look like she was mixed race.

Angela was born with a silver spoon. Her father is an ambassador who represented Nigeria in France for years, while her mother is a famous diplomat. As a child, Angela traveled with her parents from one country to another. She visited over twenty countries before her tenth birthday.

As the third child and only daughter of the family; Angela had everything she ever wanted. She loved aircraft and admired flight attendants right from childhood. Angela enrolled in aircraft training and became a flight attendant at nineteen, thanks to her parents' wealth and connections. They awarded her several times at her workplace for being an excellent flight attendant. Her nice and calm nature made her loved by most travelers.

She placed her phone on her dresser, facing it towards the bed. She walked to the bed littered with red rose petals and lay in a seductive position.

The room was dimly lit. The only source of light in the room was the soft glow from the bed lamps and the candles lit around the corners of the room; giving it a cozy and romantic feeling.
