He sat at a desk in a dark room and stared at it. That damn arrow. The arrow he was supposed to kill her with, but no... He let her live. Not out of pity, but of something else. He felt regret boil inside the deepest dwellings of his heart and it boiled in a burning pain that would never die out unless he was forgiven for the death of the Signless, who in death was known as the Sufferer, and because of his blood, the Mutant.
He wouldn't sleep because of the words that rang through his head, and the cries of the Disciple who would cry in agony for her beloved.
"You could have had the decency to kill me too, but you didn't!" she had yelled at him. Those words that had left her lips and flowed into his ears like hot, stinging candle wax, "And you made me...suffer.."
"I'M SORRY!!!" he shouted at the wall. Tears began to stream down his face and he buried himself in his hands and cried.
He got up and wiped his face after what seemed like 10 minutes of crying. It was time to do what he should've done way back then.
"Father?" a voice asked.
"Horuss... Where's your brother?"
"Sleeping... Is everything alright?"
"Why yes...Yes of course. I'm going to see someone I haven't seen in a very long time. Go wake him up. I want you both to cine along."
The three set off in search for the Disciple. Horuss was holding Equis's hand. He started thinking about how he would wake up and see his father crying. He thought to himself, "Is this what we're doing? Are we going to see the reason for our father's sadness that looms over him like death on an old man?"
They arrived at a cave after a while. A woman turned around from a small children who was pointing at them.
Her words were soft spoken, but filled with anger,"Darkleer...."
