"I'm leaving!" I yell to my best friend/roommate who is still in bed at noon.
"So soon? But you didn't make food!" She yells back.
I have to go! Make it yourself!" I say while wrapping my sweater around my shoulders. "I'll be home by 5:00".. "and I'll bring food back." I pet the cat and head out the door.
   "Yay!" She says in response.

Kendal and I have been best friends since 1st grade. I don't really remember how it happened, all I know is that we clicked.
In 5th grade, Kendal moved 14 miles away from me -which felt like the longest distance ever- but we kept a great friendship. A friendship that still lasts till this day.
When we were in 11th grade Kendal dropped out. She said she "can't handle the next two years". Her mom kicked her out when she learned that she wasn't going to school. So she moved in with me and my family. My mom wanted her to go to my school, she refused, but somehow I talked her into at least trying it out for a week. She did, and liked it only because I was there and she met a boy. His name was Christian. Kendal and Christian were together at all times, the cutest couple ever, sadly it didn't last long. Kendal caught Christian cheating on her with one of the sleaziest girls you could ever meet. After finding Christian slobbering on/dry humping Lizzy, she beat him so hard that he had two black eyes, bright red cheeks, dents in his forehead from her knuckles, and a broken wrist. Lizzy had ran away before Kendal could get to her. Kendal could've killed them both but I guess she contained herself.

I walk through the door at exactly 5:32 to Kendal sitting on couch acting like she's dying from hunger.
"Where were you! I could've died! It's 5:32, you said 5:00," she tells me like I don't know.
"Chill! I was thirty minutes later than I said." I pull out fried chicken and potato wedges from a brown paper bag from the grocery store. "At least I got food, right?".
"Yum," Kendal says while walking to the kitchen to get plates.
Kendal and I sit down on the couch, turn on Netflix, and binge watch "the walking dead".
After our meal, I call our friend Erika just to catch up. I've been so busy with school that we haven't talked in a while.
"Erika's coming over tomorrow." I tell Kendall when I get off the phone with Erika while she's licking the grease from the chicken off her fingers.
"Oh, ok, what time?" She asks.
"We didn't discuss that. I thought she could just call whenever," She looks at me with a weird face. She's insinuating that I'm unprepared... like always.
"it will be fine! I'll call tomorrow morning." I assure her.
The next morning I called Erika and told her that anytime would be okay for her to head over. We agreed on noon.
Noon came around and Erika arrived... but not alone. She walks through the door and looks at us with a unsure smile. "Hey guys, so I brought a guest. hope you don't mind."
Before we could give approval she was peaking around the corner saying,
"Come on!" to a mystery person.
A few seconds of awkward smiles lead up to the moment of meeting Erika's new boyfriend, Illias.
"Uh, hi," he says awkwardly to Kendal and I. "you must me Jenna and Kendal," he steps closer and shakes our hands. "it's nice to finally meet you. I should probably mention that my friend is also coming, he'll be here shortly. hope you don't mind?"
"Yeah, it's fine," I say relatively quickly and turn to Erika. "Can I talk to you alone for a second?" She nods.

"When where you going to tell us you had a boyfriend?"
"Today.." She says like it's a question.
"Did you not want us to meet him?" I ask.
"No.. I just wanted to know him more myself before I introduce him to my friends" she says with a smile.
"Well you could've at least said something." I say with an eye roll and slight giggle before walking away to learn more about Erika's lover.
Illias is a really sweat guy from New Haven, Connecticut and his best friend Toby is a very nice guy also, from Portland, Oregon. I learn that Erika has kept Illias a secret from us for a little more than a month. She says it wasn't that hard considering I'm always gone and Kendal is always sleeping or having what she calls "kendal time" which no one knows what that means, we were busy a lot. It's true. in the past month we haven't seen a lot of Erika so we have a lot to catch up on.
