This story picks up at the end of season 3 after Din and Grogu move into their new house on Nevarro. Spoilers for all Mandalorian seasons are included in the story.

Din wakes up to a soft rustling noise in the kitchen. With one eye open he sees his Beskar armor hanging on the wall of his small room. The room just big enough to leave space for him to change and close the door. The home is cozy but not too homey. Grogu and Din haven't lived there long enough to make it their own, but Grogu keeps trying. He is attending a school in Navarro with other kids his age, or relatively close to his age. Din hasn't found much work around town but has been working on the ship and the house. He has been grateful for the rest, though he wont tell that to anyone. Or rather he thought he was. Lately he is starting to notice his rest is turning into restless. Din creeps into the kitchen with his hand on his blaster. Weighing the options of putting on at least the helmet before ambushing his intruder. Either way if this thing sees him without his helmet on, it wont live to tell about it. With one movement, evident of his years of training as a Mandalorian soldier, Din enters the main kitchen area of the home and points his blaster at the source of the noise. There sitting at the table, is Grogu. He turns, looks up at Din and points to a pulsing light projected on the wall of the small home.

"Grogu, you couldn't sleep tonight? "Din says to the child

Grogu gurgles louder and points again at the light

"What are you doing with the navigation charts at this hour?" Din moves forward to the wall where the projection is illuminated.

With his back to Grogu he begins to delicately trace the map with his fingers on the wall. "This location is not somewhere I have ever been", Din whispers to Grogu. Turning around, Din looks Grogu in his eyes, something they don't get to do often. They both are still getting used to Din not wearing his armor indoors. Now that Grogu is officially adopted, Din can take off his helmet in front of him, in his home.

Grogu motions to the wall at a planet at the edge of the galaxy. Din, without breaking his gaze with Grogu, says, "You want us to travel there don't you?" Grogu nods.

The next morning Din is eager to forget their midnight conversation but Grogu brings it up again. Din, fully dressed in Beskar now, grabs his bags and begins to pack the speeder to head into town.

"It's a school day Grogu, we need to get going, you can eat breakfast there." Din says over his shoulder Grogu whines and frowns at the empty breakfast table. One of the down sides of a lifetime in space is lack of any cooking habits. Din has survived a year or more on just protein bars and nutritional shakes. Never one to really spend time on cooking, food has always been just fuel. But Grogu loves to eat, and he frowns on anything square shaped and made for space travel. Their kitchen is fully functional but Din has been hesitant to try to cook. Besides, the little guy seems to like his food raw, fish and eggs, frogs and anything from the water. He eats more outside than he does at school.

While outside Din sees several speeders zip by on the horizon, "looks like Greef has some visitors this morning," he mumbles into his helmet.

Grogu gets strapped in and Din straddles the speeder, flipping his cape over the back being sure to miss the hot engines near his heels. With one twist of his hand they are off headed into town. Grogu leans out of his seat letting the wind flap through his ears, attempting to catch flitterbugs that whip past them in the sand.

After dropping off Grogu, Din walks into the cantina next door to see if there is any news from the other Mandalorians in Navarro. This location happens to be a big meeting spot and a great place to catch up on the local gossip. The barkeep, a tall delicate looking being with deer like ears and a slender face, saunters up to Din at the bar and leans forward.
