━ 16. Let The Right One In

The rain was calming to a teenager like Percy. He felt at ease with the patter of water that poured from the skies as it darkened the entire town of Mystic Falls. He'd like to think that it had something to do with his Celtic element being water—meaning he always found peace near a body of water even tiny ones.

But that wasn't true—it was just the way the rain provided a clear headspace for him to unwind and finally be his silent painting self.

Everyone one else was downstairs while Percy sat near the window painting on his half filled canvas. He pulled his paint brush back staring at the picture of a sea storm, the way the waves grew higher with the cloud darkening as lighting struck down. It was how he felt at the moment like there was only a matter of time before he suddenly crashed like the waves.

Hearing a pair of footsteps he turned his head towards Stefan who had came from downstairs with Preston and Damon who were fixing up the windows from last nights attack. "You still painting?" He asked his boyfriend who smiled.

"I can take a break." Placing his paintbrush on a paper towel he stood up—pulling back his long sleeved shirt so it wouldn't get wet with paint before he walked downstairs with Stefan right by his side.

Damon who was fixing the window turned to them. "I say we go to Pearl's bust down her door and annihilate that idiot that attacked us last night."

Stefan raised an eyebrow at the accusation. "And then what? We turn to the rest of that house of vampires and say, "Oops. Sorry?"

Elena who was sitting next to Chase shook her head at him disappointingly. "I can't believe you made a deal with her."

Damon shrugged as he brought back to the talk him and Pearl had. "It was more like a helpful exchange of information. And it's not like I had a choice. She's...scary. Besides, she's gonna help me get Katherine back."

Percy walks back into the room tilting his head. "And like always Damon is suddenly the one who doesn't have to deal with the bloody aftermath of his problems." Rolling his eyes he huffed.

Damon whipped his head over towards him. "Why are you so snarky? That's Elena's thing."

Percy shrugged leaning back in the couch. "I don't know Damon—maybe it's because I was almost killed by tomb vampires who shouldn't even be out of the bloody tomb that me and my brother risked our lives closing!"

Humming the vampire tilted his head a bit. "Well when you put it that way I see your point of view."

Percy falsely chuckled before he lifted his hand sending a fire poker straight through Damon's stomach with his mind making the older vampire choke as he held the poker trying to prevent it from furthering into his body as Percy held out his hand.
