Capture & Release

Chapter 7

Isaac had been ecstatic when Stiles had arrived with Derek to pick him up from Cora's, who had been the one to pick him up from school that day. He bypassed Derek entirely leaping straight into, Stiles' thankfully, already open arms and nuzzled him close. Bouncing up and down in his arms with excitement once he found out that Stiles would be staying with them for a couple of days, professing that it was gonna be the best sleepover party ever. Cora had snickered knowingly waggling her eyebrows at Derek and Stiles in cheeky agreement, but thankfully didn't say any of the thoughts she was really thinking, what with Isaac in hearing distance. She did however wish them a fun filled sleepover, sending a knowing wink their way as they left.

On the journey to Derek's, Isaac had regaled Stiles with his stories from their recent trip to the zoo and then went on to tell him how he had made friends with a boy named Corey in his class at school. Corey was also an Omega so the two had instantly bonded, finding reassurance with each other. With Corey as a new pal they had quickly bonded with another duo, Mason and Liam, neither of whom had presented yet, but based on their descriptions would likely both be Beta's.

Stiles was overjoyed for the young boy who had been so fearful of school after the recent incidents he had suffered at the bullies hands and was relieved he was finally coming out of his shell and making friends with no further incidents occurring.

Stiles glances up at Derek to take in his reaction to his son's comments and the soft look on the Alpha's face as he keeps flicking a glance to Isaac in his rear view mirror makes Stiles' heart melt all the more. Derek, clearly feeling eyes on him, glances across at Stiles and smiles, reaching across and squeezing his hand before returning his hand to the wheel.

Isaac oblivious to the adults reactions keeps talking until they get home. "Stiwes Stiwes come see my room, it's big and pwetty and daddy said it was all mine when I cames to live here, but you's can play with me there don't worry!" Isaac's eagerness had not died down much to the adults' amusement throughout their dinner. Dinner of which was pizza that Derek had picked up from a drive through on their way home for ease.

Isaac tugs on Stiles' hand clearly trying to get him to move faster, "alright buddy, let me just help your daddy clean up and I will be right with you ok" Stiles says, trying to appease the youngster but also not take advantage of Derek's generosity at the first instance. Derek however puts pay to that "It's fine Stiles go, this is easy to tidy up so I can do it by myself no problem, unless that is you want to relax a bit then if that's the case you can check out Isaac's room later as I'm sure Isaac can wait a bit" Derek says with an expectant glance at his son. Isaac's lower lip juts out sulkily but he nods at his father in agreement, though clearly disappointed.

Of course there is no way that Stiles can let down that little face, so he quickly says "heck no I wanna check out my lil dude's epic pad! Come on Isaac lead the way, I bet I can guess which is your room just from the outside" Stiles says, earning a squeal of joy from the boy who quickly launches himself towards the stairs, tugging Stiles' hand to follow him.

"No running on the stairs!" Derek hollers, earning a quick response of "I know daddy" from Isaac, to which Derek pops his head around the doorway to watch them make their way up the stairs and says "I know you do baby, I was talking to Stiles", earning a giggle from Isaac and a mock affronted look from Stiles, quickly followed by the Omega sticking his tongue out at him, causing Isaac to giggle again.

Derek goes back to the kitchen to carry on cleaning up after their dinner, he can hear the two of them chattering upstairs, Isaac clearly showing Stiles around and introducing him to all his favourite toys and playsets. Derek smiles, he feels at peace for the first time in a long time, he had been blessed in having Isaac and had been content that having Isaac was more than enough to count as his happily ever after. He had wondered for a while whether he was being greedy to want Stiles too, but hearing them both interact together and knowing the pure joy Stiles brings to both himself and Isaac, it's clear that Stiles may be the perfect final piece to their little family, he only hopes he is worthy of such an Omega.
