Chapter 9

Stiles and Derek’s relationship steps up a level after Stiles’ brief stay at his house.  

They go on dates, on family day outs and have more sleepover parties, some even without Isaac in attendance but without him being aware he is missing one, having been having his own sleepover party at Aunt Cora or Aunt Laura’s house, aimed with the sole intention of giving Stiles and Derek some quality bonding time. 

They have talked about everything, the loss of Derek’s family, Stiles’ mother, childhood escapades and dreams, trials and tribulations, but through all this Stiles still hasn’t opened up to Derek about what it was that happened to him that led to Jackson becoming his Alpha as opposed to him staying living with his father, of whom it was clear Stiles adored.  

Derek knows that Noah would have watched out for Stiles as a parent and guardian, why was it therefore that there had been a need for Jackson to step in? For an Alpha to be specifically needed? It was clear that they had both been friends for nearly all of their lives, their relationship bordering on that of brothers, so it was understandable that if Stiles had needed an Alpha, that Jackson would have stepped in.  But what had caused it?  

Derek is well aware of the type of mistreatment Omega’s suffer, but it worries him how much Stiles will share with him but also what he leaves out.  Does he not trust Derek? 

It bothers Derek more than he is willing to say.  He knows he could dig a little deeper and find out what had happened but he refuses to breach Stiles’ trust in such a way.  He wants the Omega to tell him himself, but he also fears what he will learn. What has his dear love experienced in his life?  Stiles helps so many Omega’s, Derek's own son included, it’s clear for all to see that he is speaking from some haunted experience from his past.  Derek sees the understanding look in Stiles’ eyes sometimes when he is helping some of the more vulnerable and abused Omega’s and he aches inside knowing that Stiles completely empathises with them because he has been there himself, lived it himself.  It makes Derek want to vomit, want to punch something, or better yet kill anyone who dared to hurt his beautiful Omega, much like he did with the Alpha’s who hurt Isaac.  Not one ounce of regret weighed on his mind for their demise, he had made them pay, Isaac’s birth father most of all and he would do it again for Stiles, if only he knew who to target.

Things had been going so well between them, they had shared I love you’s and discussed the fact that they both wanted to mate, had actually agreed that they would do it on the next full moon having sought out both Noah and Jackson’s blessings, both of whom had been over the moon for them, whilst also threatening Derek with a vicious violent death should he ever hurt Stiles. 

Derek had professed he would happily fall to his knees before them, more than willing to face their wrath if ever should such an instance occur.   Stiles had subsequenrly called him a total and utter suck up, before offering the same condition of his own accord to Laura and Cora on Derek’s behalf, earning him a fond forehead kiss, then a noogie from both his sister in laws to be. 

Isaac had been delighted when he had been asked if he would be ok with Stiles moving in with them.  He was overjoyed, declaring they could have sleepovers every night.  Derek was quick to nip that thought short however, explaining to Isaac that when Stiles moved in that yes he was going to be sleeping in Daddy’s room, but not for sleepover parties (well maybe on occasion) but as Daddy’s mate. 

Isaac had been confused, his little brow wrinkling as he tried to understand what the difference was, Stiles was still going to be there in daddy’s bed, sharing daddy's room, so surely nothing had changed?  Derek had explained that as it would be a permanent thing as opposed to an occasional mini holiday of sorts, sleepover parties were not going to be taking place every day.
