It's been three years since Sabito and Giyuu left to start their demon slaying career. I received letters from Sabito often, Giyuu less so, but every now and then I'd get one from him. It puts my mind at ease knowing that they're both okay. I decided that I wanted to actively do something now that time was passing and things were beginning to move forward. It took me a whole month but I managed to convince Urokodaki to start training me. Although I did decide to keep working for Ran's wife in the meantime. I knew it would slow my training process, but I wanted to aim to go to final selection when Tanjiro goes. I think Urokodaki is relieved I won't be going to final selection as soon as his previous students, even if he didn't know why I would make this decision. But in the long run It would be better to stick with Tanjiro so that I could see how things progress and step in when necessary.

I knew this was an incredibly dangerous game I'm playing, but seeing Sabito survive final selection and continue to get stronger in the demon slayer core gave me hope. So I finalized my long term plan/goal of becoming a badass. The only thing I had to be wary of is making sure Sabito and Giyuu didn't find out. They'd totally freak out and go into protective mode. Yeah that would be a nightmare. But all that aside today was good day. I had finally saved up enough money to get a shamisen.

It was my mission to pick the best one I could find within my budget today. It's been a long time since I played the shamisen, but I'm sure my mussel memory will kick in once I start playing. I can still remember the sound of the songs when my mother played them. I'm really excited to finally get my hands on one again after so many years. I managed to save up enough for a basic one, not the best but it did the job. I was carrying it back with me a big smile on my face. I swear there's nothing that could ruin this day for me.

"Well if it isn't Y/n?"

"Uhg."

I spoke too soon. I frown as I turn around and sure enough it's Atsushi.

"Can I help you? Though I'm in a bit of a hurry."

Even though I don't like this guy, I still had my own moral obligation to be generally respectful. I have to try my best so my words wouldn't sound sarcastic.

"Hurry my ass, you're off work today."

"So what you're stalking me now? It's kinda creepy how you're keeping track of my schedule."

"Stalking you? don't flatter yourself."

'Your actions speak differently.'

"Well what do we have here?"

He snatched the the wrapped up shamisen from my arms.

"Hey! Give that back."

He started unwrapping the cloth protecting the shamisen.

"Oh a shamisen? Finally decided to start attempting to make up your lack of talents, not that playing the shamisen will make much of a difference in helping you out."

An irk mark appeared on my head.

"And what's with this quality? it's crap, not that you can afford anything decent considering you live in that sad shed at the edge of the mountain."

Another irk mark appeared.

"And don't even get me started on the crazy old man you live with, who constantly wears a mask constantly all day and night. It's no wonder you're so useless."

I clicked my tongue.

"for the record I'm playing this instrument because I want to. And we've been over this before I have no interest in getting married right now. and just because you have no women lining up to be your bride doesn't mean you get to harass people!"
