The Montrose Magpies lost their final game that season. You couldn't help but blame yourself that Sebastian seemed to have fallen short. As the loss came just days after you left him standing under the candlelight of The Leaky Cauldron. Your every thought consumed with guilt that perhaps you'd been too much of a distraction, that you should never have pestered him with letters as soon as you'd left Hogwarts. It seemed clear to you that he was better off without you. That maybe you were not his good luck charm after all, a nickname he had affectionately given you after his first Slytherin victory.
Yet still, that glimmer of hope remained. Torturing you with the memory of his hands running through your hair that night. The pacing of his breath against your body, the aroma of butterbeer in the air. Deep down you both knew it was probably your final goodbye, but your heart was too far gone to accept that.
However there was one thing you gained that painful night, a new career path. Natty's white lie about becoming an Auror was far too bold for your liking, and you were pretty sure she knew that. The humiliation of Sebastian ever finding out that it wasn't true was, well... daunting. Besides, you needed a distraction, and what better way to take your mind off of him than the most stressful job in the world.

Once again, seasons passed, without Sebastian in your life. You had accepted that it was probably for the best, training was stressful enough and you didn't need the extra torment. Although you couldn't help but miss his torment. Perhaps torment was better than nothing after all? Truthfully you'd take being enemies over being strangers, the frustration made you want to get under his skin. You wanted to hate him. To despise his very existence. Why was that so hard to do?

It wasn't long before the Quidditch League was beginning again, meaning having to mentally prepare yourself to see his perfect, stupid face everywhere. However now you were extra grateful to not be working at that desk anymore, with people nagging you every day for Sebastian's autograph. You couldn't tell if you wanted him to fail or succeed this season. It's not that you wanted him to lose, you just didn't want to see him win.
Thankfully, you were far too busy to think about Quidditch in the coming months. You only ever heard the scores once in a while in passing. It was quite the relief, getting to experience heartbreak like a normal person. To be able to try and forget about someone without the world being obsessed with them.
But you were obsessed with him. Maybe not in the daytime, in the day you had entirely forgotten him. But at night.... oh Sebastian at night.
He towered over you, his dark eyes consuming you. His breath hot against your skin, whispering things you dare not repeat. His touch, a blanket of pleasure, keeping you safe. Keeping you his. Sebastian ....
"SEBASTIAN-" a figure burst in with interruption.
Suddenly your surroundings return, your dark room, the bed you lay in, alone.
"What?" You question, pretending as if the name had not crossed your mind in months. It suddenly hit you. Why did Natty just storm into your room, screaming that name? "Natty, what is going on?"
"I just checked the Daily Prophet, he's out of the league. MC, he fell, it sounds quite bad.."
"What do you mean he fell?!" You panic, grabbing the Prophet from her hands. Sebastian was an experienced flyer, one of the best in the country, how could this possibly be true? "And if he's hurt, the team have the best healers around, I- I don't understand."
You open the newspaper across the bed, illuminating your wand as the two of you peer over with sincere shock.
