Sitting nervously in front of a colossal table, the man fiddled with his tie, trying to get it just right. This was just one of the countless interviews that could lead him to the city he had always dreamed of—Bangkok.

"Hi, I'm Jirakit Kuariyakul," he introduced himself with a hint of confidence.

One of the men seated behind the table spoke up, his tone skeptical, "Mr. Jirakit, your father is a farmer, yet you chose the software industry. Why?"

Toptap had rehearsed his answer countless times, knowing it by heart. But as he sat there, his gaze fixed on the recruiters, a mischievous thought crossed his mind. "Well, you see, gentlemen, it all started when I discovered that cows don't really appreciate my coding skills," Toptap replied with a playful smirk.

The recruiters were taken aback, but their surprise quickly turned into impressed smiles.

"How about Bangkok for your first posting, Mr. Jirakit Kuariyakul?" one of the men said, beaming as he reached for the papers to sign.

Toptap couldn't contain his excitement. It was a dream come true, not just for him but for his entire family. Grinning like a kid, he practically floated all the way home, bursting with joy as he announced the news.

Growing up in a small town like Betong, one often yearns for the excitement and opportunities of big cities. But once you leave your hometown, a strong pull of nostalgia and longing for home tugs at your heart. For Toptap, all it took was the weekend to arrive, and he hopped on the first bus back to his beloved Betong. After all, there truly is no place like home.

As time skipped ahead, Toptap found himself immersed in the vibrant embrace of Bangkok. The bustling cityscape, with its towering skyscrapers and lively streets, became his new home. However, despite the allure of the city, Toptap's heart yearned for the familiar comfort of his childhood home in Betong. Every weekend, he would embark on a journey back to his roots, where his parents eagerly awaited his arrival.

During one such weekend, Toptap stepped off the bus, a broad smile stretching across his face as the smell of Betong welcomed him.

"Pa!" Toptap called out, the affection in his voice palpable as he closed the distance between them. His father's face lit up with pure delight, the weariness of the day melting away in an instant. Toptap spotted his father, Pravat, working diligently in the fields with a close friend. The sun's warm rays kissed their brows as they toiled, their weathered hands tending to the rich earth. They exchanged a warm embrace, the kind that spoke volumes of their unbreakable bond.

His father, adorned in the attire of a hardworking farmer, beamed with joy as he caught sight of Toptap. The lines etched on his face spoke of years of dedication to the land, but his eyes sparkled with a paternal love that needed no words. Pravat's friend, a fellow farmer, nodded in acknowledgement, sharing in the pride that radiated from Toptap's father.

"Urghhh...Toptap, can't you just wash your clothes at your place? Why do you have to drag them all the way here?" Toptap's mom, Apsara, scolded him playfully.

"Ah, Mom, you know how much I enjoy sitting by our pond and handwashing my clothes. The washing machine just doesn't give them that personal touch," Toptap replied with a satisfactory grin.

"Aissh, this kid..." Apsara rolled her eyes, shaking her head as she left him to his chores. Toptap was not only a responsible son but also took pride in helping his mother and meticulously completing his daily tasks.

"P'Top, P'Top, do you really have to leave?" the neighboring kids pestered him, not wanting him to go. To them, Toptap was like an older brother—playing, teaching them ancient Thai poetry, and spreading joy. His father, Mr. Pravat Kuariyakul, watched with a mix of pride and melancholy. Toptap, as they fondly called him, had always been an exceptional son and a compassionate human being, something his father had prayed for.
