Stiles swings out of his jeep not even bothering with the door as he pushes open the back door of the vet clinic and flings himself around through the kennels room and into the back office. The man sitting at his desk blinks up at stiles. He's silent for a good minute.
"I'm guessing our plan did not work out by that face," he suggests.
"Actually a lot happened, and it would've worked if a lot and a lot more didn't happen." The teen says with a half joking voice. "But right now. We know who the darach is- I'm pretty sure, we just need a little more proof. Something that can positively show her form."
"Her?" Deaton questions already standing and moving to his little shelf in the back he grabs a small rack of bottles and picks out one with yellow powder within it. He offers it over to Stiles.
"Yeah her, my fucking English teacher her. Anyways this will do it." Deaton nods to the none question phrased question. "Awesome. The other thing, I think Derek's like under a spell or hallucination of sorts." Deatons brow pinched and he crossed his arms as stiles leans forward and lets his whole body shake with adrenaline. " he attacked us the minute we got his attention, and when I looked at his eyes, they were hazy white slightly when he looked at Scott they were bright, and when he looked at me, they were almost nothing, dull... lifeless."
Deaton's surprise shows on his face and Stiles is taken back by it. The man stares down at the table in front of him and blinks. He thinks, he shakes his head, he thinks some more. Stiles loses it and questions him. "What, what is it?" he asked. The boy almost repeats his question a second time before Deaton raises a hand to stop him and then speaks himself.
"You said it dulled when he looked at you and brightened when he looked at Scott?" Stiles nods yes. "So Scott is the enabler then. I know what this is, but I don't have what you need to fix it." Stiles curses under his breath but Deaton raises his hand again and stops the boy. "You do." He states. "She made Scott the enabler because he is who she believed Derek is closer to, but if his eyes dull when he looks at you, stiles, Derek truly cares for you."
The boy shakes his head, thinking trying to understand, "so what do I do? How do I help him?" He questions immediately. "How do I save Derek?"
"You need something, something that holds a, uh, a personal connection between you two." Deaton explain and spins around he pulls out a two journals, one old and one newer. "If it were me and Scott these would work. I gave him a notebook to help keep track of the big things he learns at work. I did the same when I was learning." Deaton smiles. "Something that means more than it is; this meant I was taking Scott in as my own, teaching him, leading him not just for note taking." The man returns the journals and then turns to stiles. "Is there anything, anything at all that would work like that for you two- something that means more."
"Between us? Like shared, does it have to be two items?" Stiles starts as he thinks. Deaton shakes his head. He stares and thinks but nothing comes up, nothing at all. Things he's always had a close connection too are just his. His first superhero action figure from his mom, now his dads crumpled badge- still sitting in his jacket pocket, jacket- his red jacket he'd gotten at this baseball game he and his dad went to. It was his mom's favorite team but the one he got was plain and bright red. Where was that jacket, when's the last time he saw it? "I can't think of anything..."
