Mariah Pov
Mariah quickly got up and dusted her clothes off "Yeah well you haven't changed at all." She wished she'd just chosen the shoe store but he'll wish her luck he'd be there too
she walked back over to the stroller and fixed the clothes she picked up "Wait is that a baby? holy shit someone knocked you up?"
She wanted to punch him in his face and tell him it was his dumbass but she couldn't do that in front of Jayden even if he didn't remember it. "Yeah well, shit happens" The bastard had the nerve to laugh "Well how old is he? I mean he can't be older than what 1 right?" She stopped in her tracks "Actually he is one he'll be 2 next year."
It sure did shut him up but not the way she wanted it to "What but that's impossible unless..." Mariah had fully prepared to walk away from him but the gods didn't side in her favor this time as Aaliyah walked over to them
'Shit why the hell in this time of all times did she walk over here...' She took a deep breath, too much was happening at once and she didn't know what to do "I'm leaving.." Yes perfect he doesn't need an explanation and he won't get one. She started to walk away, that was until he grabbed her arm
"Wait you can't walk away like that without telling me if he's my son or not." he looked like he was going to blow a fuse and she for some reason didn't care "He isn't your son." He didn't let her go and she honestly wished this interaction would just end already because it was making a scene
"The hell do you mean he isn't my son? I made him sure he looks completely like you except for his left eye but he still has my blood in him damn it."
For some reason, it angered her that she even let it go this far, what did she think was gonna happen? "He isn't your son. He's mine he always has been and will be so get the hell out of my face."
And with that, she started walking to the counter to pay for her things "Just wait I'll find out for sure Mariah." She sighed in relief at the situation ending but that's when Aaliyah came up behind her "I thought you said he was just a client?"
She didn't want to explain it to her right now in the store in front of these people who were already looking at her weirdly "Can we talk about this later please?"
"Why what aren't you telling me?" She closed her eyes and took a deep breath "Listen I thought it was just a small lie and that it wouldn't change anything I didn't know he would be here"
She hooked the bags onto the stroller and started walking out of the store with Aaliyah following "Really because it seems mighty weird that he's here"
Mariah just wanted to get as far away from him as she could "How about you come by later and I'll explain? I have to get ready for work soon anyway.." Aaliyah looked like she was choosing between declining or accepting and Mariah didn't want to hear it at that moment
"I'm heading home just knock if you come over..." and with that, she walked away.
She knew it wasn't right but she couldn't look her in the eyes as Aaliyah possibly told her to piss off or worse.
It honestly hurts to think that was an option but she has to live with the consequences so she didn't say anything as she put Jayden in his car seat with his tablet and put everything else in the trunk and drove home.
It was quiet besides the sounds of Jayden watching a show as they pulled up to their house and got out. She didn't even bother taking the stuff out of the trunk and just went inside, she set Jayden down and he crawled off doing whatever his little heart desired as Mariah went to the kitchen and got a wine glass, and poured herself a drink waiting she didn't know why she was waiting because she had no clue if she was gonna show up besides she had to get ready for work.
