You were asleep for over five days.

Donnie had predicted as much, but Mikey and Raph were super worried.

While you were unconscious, the boys had turned an old supply closet into a small room for you, Splinter having seen you once and agreeing you can stay. It was, as I have said before, small and quite cozy.

Mikey had done most of the decorating while Raph and Leo cleared it out. Leo didn't really want to admit it but a new youngest sibling excited him a little, Mikey was glad to finally not be the youngest and Raph's protective nature had already vowed to not let any harm come to you.

Donnie..was indifferent for now. Children took up space and time, not to mention they were always dirty and sticky. They were loud and annoying and demanded attention or constant food.

But he doesn't see his brothers working on something together often without fighting, and setting up your room went without hitch. He decided to just take one for the team, nurse you back to health and take a few steps back.

At least, that's what he intended to do.

Its hard to take care of such a small, helpless creature for so long and not get at least a little attached. He took care of you most in those five days, in three you didn't need the IV anymore and in the last day you already looked ten times greater than you did when they found you.

The problem he was working on now was you severe vitamin D deficiency. He set up a UV lamp to simulate sun (for he, to, used it. He's a cold-blooded turtle afterall).

Once the lamp was turned on your tiny body relaxed instantly and you seemed to melt. He watched with a soft smile until Mikey burst into the lab unannounced. Donnie practically jumped out of his skin but whipped around to his the box turtle a glare.

Mikey smiled nervously for a second before immediately becoming unbothered. He skipped on over, watching with interest.

"Why are they under your lamp?"

"They have a vitamin D deficiency."

"A what what?"

"...means they don't get enough sun."

"But..they lived in the streets, they get waaaay to much sun!"

"Well-..your right..that doesn't make sense.."

He looked at you with curiosity and concern..

"There is a lot to this human we don't know about."

Donnie reasoned.

"We have no idea what they have went through..but its amazing they're still here."

Mikeys face softened at Donnie's sudden emotion. He watched as donnie tucked back some lose hair with a soft smile.

Mikey watched with a soft smile aswell. He couldn't wait to meet you, to dress you up in nice clothes and find out what food you liked. He wanted to spoil you rotten, his heart simply ached thinking about how undoubtedly you've been mistreated.

He watched you with a now sad smile. You breathed softly, but already your breathing sounded much better than it did a few days ago. They hadn't told April yet, not because they wanted to hide you, but simply because they hadn't found the time.

They were doing their best to earn money, so they could pay for your new things. Even donnie pitched in. It was another instance of the brothers getting along in same for you. And the most wonderful thing if all? They didn't even know you.

Suddenly, you started to stirr, sitting up and rubbing your eyes sluggishly. Mikey and Donnie held an involuntary breath. You opened your large eyes and looked at the two of them sleepily.

"Turtles?"
