As we exited our house my mother locked the door to our house and I waited for her as I looked around the forest we live in.
We lived somewhere around the forest. I haven't been able to know the exact location due to her using a teleportation scroll to go from places to places.
"Thara let's go"
I hear her walk up to me from behind, I turn around and grab her hand as she holds the scroll in the other, she rips the scroll in half and before I know it we are standing by the entrance of the town we usually go to.
We walk toward the entrance and as always there's a guard standing.
"Good afternoon miss Flair"
"Good afternoon to you too sir"
"Here for your monthly shopping I presume?"
"Yes we are"
The guard nodded his head and signaled to the other guards to open the gate, my mother nodded her head and thanked them.
When we entered, my mother and I decided to walk around for a bit to see if there is anything new around the town. So far nothing has changed, it's still the same as before.
The merchant selling their things and the business owner standing outside their shop encouraging people to take a look around their shop.
I hold onto my mother's skirt tightly so that we won't be separated in the busy street. I look around to see if there is any fruit we can buy since we're almost out of it.
I spot a fruit vendor and tug on my mother 's skirt to get her attention.
"Mother look" I pointed at the vendor, we made our way across the street until I heard the sound of galloping.
I looked to my left and saw a carriage. It was designed beautifully but what catches my attention is the symbol.
A golden turtle.
From what I remember this place is the territory of the Henituse family. A wealthy family from what my mother told me.
Out of curiosity I let go of my mother's skirt and followed the carriage. It went straight ahead to the mansion, stopping at the side of the street across the mansion. I saw an old man approach the carriage and open the door.
First to come out is a man with brown hair, he must be the head of their family, and after is a woman, I couldn't see the side of her face due to her red hair blocking it. Soon after is a child with the same color of hair as the woman.
Wanting to know more about the family of this territory she watches as they talk and smile to each other when all of the sudden I heard my mother call out to me. Looking back I saw her worried face and ran toward her. As I reach her she carries in her arms.
"Where have you been?! I was just buying some fruit and you immediate vanish"
"Sorry my mother something just catches my attention so I went to see it"
She signed and hug me "Never do that again"
"Yes mother"
As she turned around to walk back to the market with me in her arms, I failed to notice a red hair kid looking at me.

4 years later
It has been 8 years since I was sent to this world still waiting for the sign of me being tested to become a shadow monarch and a sign of my husband transmigrating into this world.
I've grown a little taller compared to before and the surroundings around me started to change. No, I'm not just talking about the physical surroundings, I'm talking about the energy. It's starting to get cold for me even though it's summer. I asked my mother if she felt cold but she said it felt hot. So I disregard it for sometime, but things change when my mother hugs me and she suddenly pulls away asking why am I cold.
She wrapped me in a blanket that day to help bring my temperature down but I told her to ignore it since I'm not feeling anything wrong. It took me a while to convince her that I'm fine but she did stop in the end.
After that day I started thinking that the test to become a shadow monarch is slowly coming. It's just a matter of time when, after all, to be the ruler of the dead you will have to be one yourself.
Since when you're dying, your body temperature drops, and your skin may feel cold to the touch.

HEADS UP ON THE NEXT CHAPTER. OUR MC MIGHT FINALLY GET THE TEST TO BECOME A SHADOW MONARCH BUT IT WONT BE THE SAME AS THE SOLO LEVELING.
OKAY MAYBE IT HAS SOME SIMILARITY BUT I HAVE SOME PLAN.
